I told my son Jacob about finding this site and how great I thought it was and his reply was oh you found an epilepsy fan club. :woot: Glad to see he is keeping his sense of humor

He is almost 23 and was just diagnosed 16 months ago. Its been an uphill battle convincing him that he really does have this and probably will for the rest of his life. We typically joke about most things in life and we reenact for him what he does during his seizures, seems to help him to know what he is doing and it lets him laugh about it

I've had seizures all my life & to this day (I"m 50) I wonder what I look like during a seizure.

I'd love to see a little video of myself during one. If you have a digital phone or camera you might want to ask him if he would want to see that.

Thats a good idea, my sons love video taping each other. Right now he looks like a raccoon, after his gran mals he looks as if he has been punched in both eyes for a few days

I've been diagnosed for more than a decade and I think it's only been the last few years I've finally come out of denial. It's a weird thing to have to wrap your brain around, especially if he's like me- perfectly healthy the other 99.9 % of the time.

I was the same age as your son (22) when I got diagnosed. I'm 25 in a couple of weeks and still struggling to come to terms with it. This site has helped a lot though, talking to other people in the same or similar situations. A laugh helps. :P

Yay! I have always wanted to be a member of a fan club!! I am 50 (for now, a few weeks will put me in my 50's) and I laugh about it all the time. Really, what else is there to do??

I am glad to see others have a sense of humor where this is concerned. That is the way my sons(4) and I have dealt with a lot of adversity in our life. Never disresctful to others just to each other ;)
