Long story short.

- Took a test called the MMPI
- Doctor said I could have Schizotypal Personality Disorder or Paranoid Personality Disorder
- Doctor said the former is is a mild form of schizophrenia
- Some traits match me but others nope
- I can see how some of these traits could lower my seizure threshold
- Supposedly this stuff isn't fully diagnosed until you're an early adult (which I am)...

Could this be the root cause of my seizures? (disorder symptoms -> reducing seizure threshold -> seizures) or something like (disorder symptoms -> ways to get rid of symptoms -> reducing seizure threshold -> seizures)?

Kind of scary though if I have schizophrenia :|

edit - found this read.

Reading up on them a little, it doesn't sound like Schizotypal Personality Disorder is the same thing as schizophrenia. It has been suggested that Schizotypal Personality Disorder could be a precursor to schizophrenia.
However, a study done by Haznedar et al. (2004) suggests that they may be two distinct disorders.[6]E] From wikipedia.

Don't let a diagnosis scare you with regards to who you are.

remember, it could always be much worse,
and you always have a chance to be much better,

Hi George,

This is my opinion and i'd want a second opinion as the MMPI as been revised so many times since the 1930s when it was first introduced.

In the 1980's I showed classic signs of a schizophrenic mentally and behaviour wise, I was soon diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic and also a psychopath I was soon put into an old mental asylum...injected and drugged up for a good while and in 96 a doctor came and saw me at home to assess me and advised I should see my neuro to send me to a brain surgeon he knew of to get me diagnosed properly as he said i'd got temporal lobe epilepsy which is identical to schizophrenia.
In the end my neuro sent me after twice asking him...new tests was done and I actually did have temporal lobe epilepsy.
Also they found out I had bipolar and manic depression.

I would suggest another opinion because of the drug and injections that was wrongly given they caused brain damage to the right side of my head.

Thanks for youir opinion. Sucks you had to go through all that.

Hi George,

Yes I went through that from an early age, took from one psychiatric hospital to another till I was properly diagnosed and to think the epilepsy / strokes and more I've had came from an inherited disease Lupus which wasn't diagnosed not untill 2008.
