I have been sleeping terribly over the past few months, probably longer. Partly due to my son and partly due to who knows what.
Last night as I was going in and out between sleep there was an exploding sound (super loud) in my head and then some seizure like tingling and the feeling like I couldn't move and then my whole body involuntarily stretched.
Then I fell asleep.
The noise was startling but I remember just thinking, oh, this is new.
It's funny because our bodies and brains play such "tricks" on us that suddenly the abnormal is normal. The new normal.

I read about it being an actual thing called exploding head syndrome or possibly a temporal lobe seizure.

Has this happened to others?

It was a first for me. Hopefully not to be repeated. I would love some more quality sleep instead of bombs going off in my head.

Wow, that sounds unpleasant. :( I don't think that's happened to me -- I think I would remember hearing my head explode.

This is probably not related, but I would like to share with you what happened to me prior to having an annie. I head a headache constantly for 2 weeks, it didnt matter what I took, I couldnt get rid of it. It wasnt a bad headache, just a dull throbbing one, but a pain in the neck just the same. A few days before I had the annie, I had a horrible headache while sleeping, only it wasnt the pain that woke me, it was the banging sound, like someone take a sledge hammer to a metal door with my head laying on the door. I kept trying to tell my husband someone was trying to break in and realized i was dreaming and then the pain started. I sat up and as I started to lift my head off the pillow, the noise subsided but the pain got worse. It felt like my head was trying to explode. I dont know enough about epilepsy, non epilepsy or annies to know if there is a connection or not. but yes, I can relate, I had an exploding/enploding headache.
Horrible, absolutely horrible.

maryltyme: That headache sounds like it was just terrible! I wonder if it was related to your annie. I know when they wondered if I had a stroke at the beginning because I did have a bad headache at my temple but if it's a stroke it is supposed to be like the worst headache you've ever had in your life x10. An aneurysm must be incredibly painful. I can't even imagine.
I am lucky that there was no pain associated with my explosion last night. Just a loud sound inside my head that woke me up.
