While my husband was getting his eyes checked tonight I was talking to the cashier about November being both, epilepsy awareness and eye care month. When I left we both wondered if it's true that an eye exam can cause seizures. Do you know? (eye exams creep me out. Hubby gets the eye tests, I'll take the brain ones)

I have an eye exam tomorrow, so I guess I'll find out. I've never had trouble with eye exams causing a seizure in the past. BTW, in addition to November being Epilepsy awareness month, it is also American Diabetes Month. I also have Type 1 Diabetes.

During one of the standard tests, you look at a screen where there are small flashes of light blinking on and off at different locations. You press a button each time you see a flash. So if you were very photosensitive, this test might be triggering.

Nak, I see a specialist who doesn't need to conduct that test anymore, because of some newfangled piece of equipment he has. He knows I have E, and tailors my tests around my condition. We take rest breaks when necessary (I'm highly photosensitive), and I have my soluble aspirin at the ready (breaks the pattern if I head into an early sz).
