Lately everyone has been saying my face looks tanned, when I haven't been in the sun at all. Due to a family history of skin cancer, I am always very careful with hats and sunscreens in the summer. Especially, too, because I know tegretol can make one more sun sensitive. But despite all that, and a good 3 months since the intense sunshine, I am realizing too that my face looks tanned in a bit of a blotchy way. I take tegretol, vimpat and keppra. Anyone else on these have issues where their skin?

I can't answer about the drugs, but I have adrenal insufficiency and one form of it (Addison's Disease) makes skin look tanned without any sun.

If you feel ok, otherwise, then it's probably not that. If you are feeling unwell on top of the skin change, then it's worth mentioning to your doctor.

I only mention it because one of the AEDs I was on (either Keppra or Phenobarbital) made my adrenal insufficiency worse and I had to increase my adrenal replacements while on them.

My skin has gotten that blotchy tan effect since I went on Lamictal. I do get a fair amount of sun exposure, so I think it may be caused or made worse by the increased sun sensitivity Lamictal causes.
