I started Keppra just over a week ago. I am also on Lamicatal and Klonopin. Because I was so tired and exhausted, he lowered my keppra right before Thanksgiving. I am now at 250mg 2xday. I am still pretty tired. Lately I am starting to feel easily frustrated and blue. Tonite, my 17 year old son asked me if he had done anything wrong. It is my understanding that Keppra reaches a steady state within a few days. Wouldn't the side effects also show up pretty quick? I am trying to figure out if it is me or the meds.

I didn't have any mood change or unusual fatigue with Lamical.

Klonopin can make me tired, or make me fall asleep, but it doesn't make me blue.

Keppra made me very depressed and lethargic, immediately. I'm not sure if I even got past the first week.

I'm sorry you are having trouble. I'm always afraid to say the wrong thing because I'm relatively new here, but if the Keppra is the only thing that changed maybe they can go even slower or switch you to something else.

Keppra is also known has Keppra Rage as it can affect your moods & make you depressed.
I have been on Keppra for 5 years & haven't had any issues with it but that just me.
I know there are other members who have had issues with Keppra so they should be able to help more.

It's the meds. As CQ said, Keppra is known to cause rage, depression. I take 3000 mgs. but I also take an anti-depressant. Sometimes Lamictal and Klonopin are also used as mood stabilizers, but you need to speak with your dr. if the Keppra is making it worse.

2000 mg of Keppra 2x a day. I do well. I have to watch my mood and I sleep a lot, but I live a pretty normal life from what I can see. I had to laugh as I just stumbled across your thread here, as I'm feeling kind of down. I'll get over it in an hour or so. :)

3000 mg Keppra daily, and 50 mg lamictal. Keppra made me a royal ass for months but lamictal seems to have smoothed out the roughest edges and made me tolerable to be around. It also nearly pushed me over the edge into depression and the boohoo's, but I was able to get out of that with the help of some non-traditional remedies. ;) Sleep is one of the biggest things that's helped me, and I was never one to get more than 5 hours a night. I don't always make it, but I try to be in bed by 9:30 and I get up every day at 5:30-6. If I have the opportunity, I could easily take a 2-3 hr nap during the day.
