Its gone to extra time and it looks like that is what Costa Rico wanted, without the keeper, he was outstanding.

Not bad but they did play for penalty's, Netherlands do not have a good record.
 
That was some penalty shoot out, I thought Costa Rico were through.

Sorry I was shouting for the Netherlands, what did you make of that last minuet substitution for the Netherlands.
 
wow, I guessed four out of four.
Germany,
Brasil,
Argentina,
The Netherlands.
Although, I did not think it would not go to penalty kicks in the last game.

Fedup - I do not understand off sides, and the goal keeper rules.
I did not see half of the off sides that were called.
I do not understand when the goal keeper kicks the ball and when he throws it.
Also, when the goal keeper is fouled, why doesn't he get the penalty kick?

It seems Robbens was fouled and should have gotten a kick a couple of times, even though the replay showed the foul, Costa Rica said 'dive'.
I don't understand?????????

I just want to make up stupid excuses to cope with CR's loss, but Krul was tall and that's why he was able to block those 2 goals lol

Anyway, I think that made a difference, I heard them say Netherlands wasn't really good at penalty shootouts. Maybe they were saving Krul so that they could surprise Costa Rica?
 
You did pick them right, the off side rule ok, if you take a piece of paper (or something) and draw a straight line on it, now if you take the salt and pepper and place them on the line (use them as Costa Rico) take I do not know what but something else for Netherlands and place it along the line with the salt and pepper, now everybody is on side but if you have somebody from Costa Rico going to kick the ball and the the salt moves towards the goal before the ball is kicked they are off side but if they wait until the ball is kicked they are ok. The off sides called were very close and there is one or two that looked ok.

If the ball is passed back to the goalie by a member of his own team he cannot pick the ball up he has to kick it.

You cannot give the keeper a penalty because that is his area and it is nowhere near the other goals.

Robbens was fouled a few times ok, but maybe not hard enough he had a bad game.

No harm in losing to a good team. Your right he was tall but I bet he was practicing penalty's this last few weeks, do you know he only saved 2 of the last 20 penalty's up until today. He plays for Newcastle UTD. in England and is not bad but very lucky tonight. It's going to be a good semi finals.
 
Costa Rica was amazing to get so far. I would say their performance really rocked the soccer world. Sure, they lost today, but they held the netherlands to 0-0 in 120 minutes, and the netherlands had beaten Spain 5-1.

Now it's time for me to root for Brazil!

Could not agree more with you, yes they held the Netherlands to a draw and done a good job of it but the best team won in the end. I am sorry you have to shout for Brazil.

Today I am watch GAA.

I think Netherlands is having a tough time with the heat.
It may be winter south of the equator, but Brazil is very close to the equator.
Close than South Africa four years ago.

Predictions as to which team advances is going to be more difficult.
Brazil has home field advantage, but Germany may pick up their game.

Argentina is spirited, so if Netherlands can't become acclimatized, they are out, no matter how good they are.

I am inclined to agree with a lot about Argentina and the Netherlands and do not forget the Netherlands have nobody like Messi, he can win the game on his own.

I think Germany will beat Brazil the Germans are so clinical in there approach to every game and they will not give Brazil the space.
 
Please somebody tell me what is wrong with Brazil they are losing by 5 goals and its not half time.

I have no idea. This is a shame. Game is no longer exciting because of that
 
No excitement at all now Brazil have just fallen apart, what a humiliation. I know I said Germany would win but not like this.

I wanted Germany to win anyway, so I'm happy lol
 
What will the final score be if they Brazil keep this up for the second half. Brazil should just throw the towel in.
