A little over a week ago I started getting cold sweats in the evening while I was watching tv with my dad. When I started feeling a little better I went to bed. I woke up the next morning with severe double vision. I took my meds and nearly threw them up, I had dry heaves for about an hour. My parents decided to take me to the ER because of everything that was going on. I didn't have any energy and they couldn't get me out of bed so they had to call for an ambulance. I went to the local hospital and stayed over night, I had some blood work done, they couldn't find anything wrong (of course) so they sent me home the next morning. I still had double vision and could only/barely see with one eye opened. That night both my parents had to help me in and out of bed to go to the bathroom, holding me up, I ran into the walls.
I wasn't any better the next morning, started having dry heaves again, double vision and no energy. My mom called my neuro in the city, almost an hour away, and they said to go to the ER in that hospital. My parents practically carried me to the car and drove me there with a bucket in front of me that I kept dry heaving in. I was admitted there.
I had blood work done, CAT scan, a 24 hour EEG and I don't know what else done. It took at least 3 days before they found a med that would stop the double vision for a little bit but if I kept both my eyes open for too long it would come back again. About a day after that the double vision did stop but my brain felt like it was bouncing around in my head, I tried explaining that feeling that to the drs but they didn't seem to understand.
They couldn't find out what was going on, said they had to wait for some results of the blood work but I was finally sent home with no answer. I'm a bit unsteady from time to times, have some med for being light headed (luckily only needed to take once) and I'm having home health come in and help me be steady on my feet again. Just glad to be home!
