Okay, here is my attempt at an avatar....

Also, I am having a lot of trouble with my sister...... she seems to think that all of this..."my episodes" are for attention getting! Do any of you have negative people in your life?

My husband is the best! He babies me like crazy on those bad days when all I can manage to do is sit up!!

Unfortunately, plenty of CWE members have stories of people who don't take their epilepsy seriously. Everyone from relatives to doctors can be skeptical or downright hostile even. Do what you can to change their minds (like getting a written letter from the doctor, or info from epilepsy sites), and if that doesn't work, minimize their impact on your life. There are enough stressors with epilepsy as it is...

I have some really understanding friends...but my family is a different story. I think they think because they haven't seen a seizure (except for my son) that it must not be true. My mother is always saying she doesn't understand why I am not cured yet. It's hard when you think the people closest to you should want to understand and learn about E when all they really want is not to hear about it!
Don't let it get you down (coming here helps me!) and don't let it interfere with your treatment.

Then there are those who have seen a seizure & can't believe that a seizure can be me being a bit absent for a few seconds.

Hi HuskyMom and welcome to the forum :) I had a neuro who allude to something similar and misdiagnosed my seizures. I don't consider my mother a negative person in my life but she is constantly going on about how they should be able to "fix" me because other people she has known who have seizures have been "fixed". Interstingly enough, my step-sister had a seizure the other day but she doesn't go on about her...it was because she wasn't taking her meds  You kinda have to role with it at times, frustrating as it may be. Its the medical world I find the hardest to tolerate it from...how can they administer proper care if they can't bother to inform themselves?

Ah family haven't spoken to my mother in almost two years. She blew up at me about a fight she had with my sister just two months after my diagnoses. I had the worst seizure I ever had the next morning. It actually feels good to have that seizure trigger out of my life.
