For all those ladies out there suffering from seziures during that time of the month . My daughter has been prescribed clobazam during the seven days she is at risk . This is the 2nd month of using the rescue med , and i no its early days but she has not experienced any seziures whilst taking it . Of course we still have our fingers crossed that next month we will have the same outcome . I Hope that if anyone reads this and finds it usefull , then its a good job done x

ps i did have a thread called keppra/lamactal = seziures please take a look

i don't think i'm at risk during that time of month, but it's nice to know there is something out there that can help with it

Thank you for posting this jonsey, I am only at risk during that time of the month since my body has changed, so this is something I will look in to!

I read that clobazam is less sedating than clonazepam but is in the same family. I'll have to look into that because clonazepam really knocks me out while just reducing the intensity of my seizures if not their frequency. Thanks for the post.

little update

Amy should be on the rescue med if we work her dates out. But this month no symtoms so no rescue tablet no seziures . She dose however have a gynie appointment in two weeks , looks like we are being listen to at last

:)

Thanks for the info! All of my (few) seizures have been in direct relation to my cycle. I know I would much prefer a medication that I could safely take when I'm at risk rather than something I have to take at all times.

Currently, it looks like I'll be going on Dilantin for a bit.

Hello Chargingbird

Your welcome , hope you dont mind me asking, but are you taking any contreception with your meds. Only amy is on the depo , as i have mentioned in many threads. But this will change hopefully to the merina

No, I have not taken any birth control since 2002. It made my anxiety/PMS/over all mood horrible.

After the birth of my son (2001) I took the mini-pill for 3 months and had headaches every day. Then I switched to Depo. I think I had 3 injections before I decided it wasn't for me either. I gained nearly 35 lbs (which was three pounds less than I'd gained in pregnancy!!) I took Ortho Tricyclne after that for about 6 months. After my second child was born, my husband took the permanent approach to birth control.

I considered birth control, but I have already successfully treated m PMDD on my own with natural treatments, so I am hoping to go in a similar direction for helping to maintain my progesterone level.

Brilliant news Jonesy, here's all the best for Amy. That's real progress!
Now, about that boyfriend of hers... maybe he can take a leaf out of chargingbloke's book and take some shared responsibility?? :noevil: Yeah yeah, I have a daughter too so i guess what you're gonna say :roflmao: to that idea!

LOL

On a lower side Amy had a seziure this morning , very small . Not down to hormones but the incompetence of the pharmisist . Amy picked her prescription up in the week . She took her new prescription yesetrday evening her last one , she took her first one this morning and late morning it happened . Amy mentioned that her tablets were in a diffrent box . It just says levitrame i no i have spelt that wrong but on her last box it had levitrame teva . No teva on this box , even the colour of the tablets look anemic . So i think she has had the unbranded version . Heads are going to roll tomorrow

Aw BOOO. You were doing so well. This is for you and Amy :flowers:

Golly I'd be cross too, I wouldn't like to be that pharmacist in the morning! This is for the pharmacist :blowup2:

All this stupid stupid costcutting, while our taxes are wasted on..... :soap:

Being more constructive, maybe you can get the GP to re-issue the prescription to specify a branded, non generic formulation, the one you had before and it worked, you have nicely demonstrated that not all levican'tspell.it.either is the same.

thankyou ,

Amy still not quite herself, she felt better this afternoon, but not to hot now . She had to wait to take her proper keppra , luckly i keep a strip just incase the chemist lose her script , like they do from time to time .

Amy Still not feeling well, she came home early today. She said she felt distant . Collegues in work noticed her staring and sent her home . We got an appointment with the doctor. She expained that she feels her heart racing and complaining of pins and needles . He did give her the once over and signed her off work .

Thank you so much for sharing this info, hope the good results continue :)

Hi , thankyou hopefully we can get back on track . Amy cant wait to get back to work , not sure how long that will last lol.

Normality here we come , again .

Amy more herself after a few days off . back to work friday , no dramas fingers crossed .
