Anyone had a switch in brand name from gen to mylan "topiramte"?

I did in the past week and was wondering if I'm imagining it or if there are side effects. The pharmacist said they were the same drug...but...I have had insane hand tingles, persistant headache, laboured breathing, and I'm exhausted---all the symptoms I get when i change meds...

but i also have school exams-could stress trigger these symptoms well on meds--or is it a difference in the medication?

any thoughts???
 
They may be the same drug, but the actual amount of it could be different. There can be variations from one brand to another, between brand and generic, and from batch to batch from a single generic producer. I would definitely be suspicious of the brand switch because of the timing of your new symptoms. I would press the pharmacist to see if he can find out the real level of active ingredients in gen vs. Mylan. And just to be on the safe side, do your best to get plenty of sleep during this stretch. They do have the same active ingredients, but the "Mylan" tells you that it was made by that company. so it is their version. Which means they can use different fillers and binders and the potency of the drug could be 80-120% effective versus another brand. such as Apo-topiramte.

Brand name is consistent as are generics. IF you keep the same generic. Pharmacies can buy the cheapest generic on the market at the time they need to reorder. so your swaping between different names,

If you would like to go back to the one you were on, when you order, just make sure you ask in advance to see if they have it or if they can order it in for you. Side effects to change or become more noticable between generic-generic, brand-generic, generic-brand.

I had a reaction going from generic to brand so it not uncommon
 
hmm, thanks for the ideas- I called the pharmacist again and they are insistant that its the same! so I guess maybe i'll try getting some more sleep...and see what happens for now
 
If it gets worse, give them the information we just gave you. and call your neurologist. when it comes to brain meds, especially for those with E, small miniscule changes can be noted from even the tiniest difference in med.

Thats why some meds come in 25mg or smaller doses. its enough to make a difference
