This is a bit long, so bear with me, please.
Okay, I started generic Keppra last week. Actually, I'm still taking one regular Keppra in the AM, and one generic in the PM to ease the transition. I'll run out of regular Keppra in a few days. Generic Keppra has dropped way down in price. When it first came out, it was only about $20 less, so I didn't bother changing. This last year I knew that it had dropped in price, but was not prepared for how much. I nearly dropped my teeth when they told me it was only $29. Woohoo! (I pay up front, and after I reach my deductible I'm reimbursed 70% by my insurance.)
Anyway, I thought I was doing okay though I had a hard time getting to sleep the first few nights. I felt like I started dreaming even as I drifted off which woke me up immediately. That passed and I was happy with the generic. (Finally getting to the point, here) But just a while ago, I had what I think was a very, very brief olfactory aura - you know the kind where you smell burning tires, or in my case stale, nasty cigarettes. Anyway, it lasted less than a second, but since then, about an hour ago, I've felt nauseated. I used to have these kinds of aura several years ago, but they lasted a few seconds and didn't make me feel nauseated afterward. Questions: Has anyone else felt sick after an olfactory aura? In other words, might this be a side effect of the generic Keppra rather than an aura and after effect? Has anyone else had trouble transitioning between Keppra and generic? How long until things stabilized?
I know everyone is different, but any insight would be appreciated.
