If you have seizures and take certain AED's do you usually get a flu shot each year or not and why?

Also my daughter is having my 1st grandbaby in about 4 weeks. Her OB Dr mentioned to her about the Adult Pertussis vaccine. Does anyone have opinion or info on getting this if you take certain AED's or have a seizure disorder? Will probably call Neuro on Monday to get her advice but was curious what others thought or knew.

I had surgery at the beginning of the year and was given a flu shot when I was in the hospital and never had any problems. My neuro never said anything to me about not getting one.

This I don't know about so I'm hoping someone else will be able to give you an answer.

My neurologist encouraged me to get the flu shot, because when I get sick (beyond just a cold) my seizures tend to get worse.

My neurologist didn't tell me, I just found that being sick usually worsens my seizures.

My dr. always encourages me to get a flu shot, because like Eric and masterjen, if I get sick, it may increase my seizures. Plus I have the VNS and it can make breathing a bit more difficult when I get a cold or the flu.

I think I've fallen victim to the whole conspiracy thing...in other words...

it's not really a shot to "prevent you from getting the flu"...it's a mind control drug that slowly turns you into a :sheep:

paranoid about what someone else puts into my body??? you're damn right :agree:

uhhh...what just happened??? :dontknow: :dontknow: :dontknow:

Last year I was asked to get both the flu shot and the Tdap (tetanus, diptheria, pertussus (whooping cough)) as we had a new baby in our extended family. I had absolutely no problems with either. My doctor did recommend with my history to get them a few weeks apart.
