I was first diagnosed with simple partial seizures about eight months ago. Since then, my seizures have become more frequent, and have moved to complex partial with secondary generalization. I've tried half a dozen different drugs, plus combinations of different ones, and I've had to gradually increase the dosage of whichever drug as the seizures got worse. Right now I'm on 2500mg of Keppra/day, with an increase to 3000 coming soon.

At this point, I've basically been sick from side effects for eight months. I'm so tired of it I am almost to the breaking point. What's most frustrating to me is that I will feel fine for a few days, and then it's right back to being sick. Every time I think I've gotten used to the drug (with a few 'good days'), I wake up nauseous, dizzy, etc and have a few 'bad days' again.

I guess my question is, does anyone else have this problem? Do you still have good days and bad days, even after being on a drug for a while? I feel like I'm going nuts. It doesn't make sense to me why it keeps getting bad again just when I feel okay. I'm confused as to whether it's from the drugs, or from something else. It also might be worth mentioning that I've lost about 30lbs since starting these drugs. I'm not sure if that affects anything. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Since you were diagnosed with partial seizure only 8 months ago, then my question is why is your dr. changing medications so quickly? It does take the body time to metabolize to different meds and there are different meds for different types of seizures. Are you seeing a specialist (an epileptologsit)? I've now been on 3000 mgs. of Keppra for over 10 years and I'm fine with it. Have you had your thyroid checked recently?
