Hello, my name is Christie.
I just moved to New York City from Brisbane, Australia with my husband. He works for an American company here in NYC, and they closed their Brisbane office and moved their staff back here. We've been here two weeks so far!
I've had epilepsy since I was 19 (I'm 25 now). My generalised seizures are controlled by medication, but I still suffer numerous partial seizures.
We're adopting a Basset Hound in one week, and I'm really looking forward to his company. I also have an anxiety disorder, and feel much better when I have a canine companion
I would like to get our Basset Hound registered as a service dog in NYC, but I don't think that's possible, as he has not had any training. My old dog (Buffy, a Samoyed) was able to anticipate when I was about to have a seizure, and it was in fact Buffy that alerted my parents when I had my first tonic-clonic seizure. She passed away two years ago, and is now my little angel
I hope everyone is well!
Christie.
