Happy purple day everybody! I'm not managing to do any fundraising as such but bought wristbands for the family and gave a donation to the Epilepsy Society while I was at it.

I've also been promoting it on a non-E related forum I'm a member of and a good few people have thanked me for highlighting it. Some have even promised to wear purple today :e:

International epilepsy awareness day .... Im not to well at the moment to spread as much awareness as id have liked but i will be wearing purple today and wearing my epilepsy waistband Xx

Well said Chaz and well done Jayde, hope things get better for you soon, you've had such a tough time x

Thanks to all who are working for better awareness and understanding, and towards safer, more effective treatments.

HAPPY PURPLE DAY TO EVERYONE!!

with surgery coming i chose purple day to start making changes. made a list of people i want to finally tell about both the E and surgery, am starting a support group (you never hear the word epilepsy in my city but going by the numbers there must be a few thousand sufferers), and teamed up with a good friend who's a local reporter and we did a huge story on epilepsy, cassidy and purple day, what to do if you see someone have a seizure, etc., then i wrote a piece from the perspective of someone local.
she also got city hall to turn our (normally blue) lights on our walking bridge purple from the 25th to 27th!!!!! can't wait to see it tonight, taking tons of pictures.

got a purple sweater on right now, boyfriend bought himself a purple work shirt, and all around just looking forward to a great day. lol ironic enough i had a nightmarish-dream about a bunch of people w seizures and we were all in a huge hospital-like building, woke up heart pounding and had a partial instantly. i persevered tho, took off into the closet grabbing for my purple sweater 'i'm getting this on dammit.'

Excellent qt! Great stuff. Here in the states, epilepsy awareness month isn't until November, but I'll fly the purple flag in spirit, and wear my purple sweater...

hmmm that's odd, i just assumed that if purple day march 26 was in 60 some countries that one would be the states.
thanks tho nak for going purple with us!!

Great stuff qtown!

Sounds like some really good stuff you're doing!

Yup,exellent Q,think off all the people who are gonna be aware now because off you!

ya get tired of holding stuff in for almost 20 years. it's so sad when a city has no support in place, i figure i've done not too bad at holding myself up (well, not literally lol), why not try and help others do the same.
if it's only one person in the group, or 50, that's one more than me!!

Thanks to everybody who posted and qtowngirl, you're a star. I've generally had a very good response to what I've tried to do for Purple Day this year - going to try even harder next year!

And good on you too Jane for what you managed to do!!!

Ah but Jane,at least it was something, better than nothing at all,
