Has anyone ever experienced feelings of heat coming from one side of your head? I have these episodes every now and then and wanted to see if anyone can relate. If so, is it e or AED-related? Thanks.

I would also be interested in this, my son is not on medication yet but often gets this heat around his temples and eyes.

My head is often hot and gets sweaty when I eat hot sauce, in the winter you can even see steam coming off the top of my head, but only Keppra ever made steam come out of my ears, lol.

Wow, it's really funny that you bring this up. I've had this problem for the past few years. My left ear and temple area of my head burns sometimes. I talked to my doctors about it, but they never found out why I was feeling that. And they just never kept at it to see WHY it's happening to me. I don't feel sick when it happens, but I'd like to know why it happens.

Heat Fom Head

IN1, Joey, Danni,
Have you ever paid attention to what you were doing at the time? This could be important. If you are doing the same thing or thinking about the same thing, it might be something to consider. If you are using the same part of the brain each time, this(the heat) could have something to do with 'brain activity'.
I'm sure you have noticed how if you are really trying to remember something, but having a hard time, you may very well start forming beads of sweat on your head and body.:twocents:

Yes I have. There's no pattern. Actually, right now my left ear is burning. I woke up about an hour ago. I'm just sitting here. It never makes any sense.

There doesn't seem to be a pattern for me either, in terms of what I'm doing right before or during the episode. I did a little research on the topic and discovered a couple of things that stood out...the possibility of a pinched nerve OR a migraine variant. I was diagnosed with migraines over a month ago, so maybe it has something to do with that? I don't know...Next time, I'll just pay careful attention to the circumstances surrounding it and go from there. Thanks everyone!

Migraine meds can give weird symptoms they can act on blood circulation I tried them years ago before e they did nothing for head aches apart from giving bit of sweats I know did not like side effects

Some partial seizures show up autonomic disturbances (such as goosebumps and changes in body temperature or heart rate). Other seizures feature "phantom" sensory information. So the sensation heat could possibly be seizure-related. Does your skin actually feel hot to the touch?

I've never touched my head or face when it happens. I just kind of pause until it passes, which is usually less than a minute. On the other side of that, I sometimes get a cold sensation or chill that kind of runs down my left leg, which feels the way it does when you get goosebumps. Hmmm...:ponder:

Ear emitting heat

When I 'googled' 'ear emitting heat why' some articles had people who commented that this happened to them and they found out they had a neurological problem like 'anxiety disorder', 'migraines'. I don't know any more, this is just something I found online when I googled 'ear emitting heat why'. Maybe you could find more by googling your symptoms.:twocents:

Sometimes my ears will get cherry red and very hot.

Yeah, me too, but with me it's just the left one. My docs have no explanation for it. In the summer, it even makes me sweat a lot. It's very embarrassing.

From http://www.medicaldaily.com/listen-5-things-your-ears-can-tell-you-about-your-health-308078

Our ears can flare up in the heat of the moment and turn scorching red. However, red, flushed ears unrelated to bad tempers could indicate an adrenal insufficiency. The adrenal glands, which sit on top of your kidneys, are responsible for secreting the hormone adrenaline, which prepares the body to react in a stressful situation, says Medline Plus. An adrenal insufficiency could result in extremely low blood pressure (hypotension), weight loss, and kidney failure, among other health ailments. Red ears are a characteristic of adrenal fatigue.

Red ears could also be a sign of Red Ear Syndrome. This condition is characterized by one or both ears becoming extremely red and hot to the touch, with the appearance of the redness occurring in a matter of seconds, according to a 2013 article published in The Journal of Headache and Pain. The disorder is very rare, with approximately 100 published cases in medical literature.
