Signed up a while ago, to read descriptions about Temporal lobe seizures, to see if I could related; (and thank you, I'm now certain I'm not going crazy and had a chat with neuro on friday), but not interacted really; until now, because got investigated for NF1 sept 2010, and a DNET in my right temporal lobe, which has been seen on scans since 2004, but threw questions etc from my Dr's, never really seemed an issue until more recently, Had a routine MRI July 2010 for Brain tumor (pilocytic Astrocytoma) which is why have mri's that was an issue in 1994 and 1995, but that buggers shrinking so all good on that front.
Chatting to Neurologist and explaining stuff, I'm actually having not only simple partial, but also complex. Understand this is Focal Epilepsy.

Dr Mohanraj has asked if I would be willing to take part in a trial for "Eslicarbazepine acetate"

Anyone with experience of this drug?

Hi stuartbungle, welcome officially to CWE!

Eslicarbazepine acetate is identical to Trileptal (generic = Carbamazepine) in the way it works, so it's a known entity in that sense, and should definitely control seizures for some folks. The hope is that it will be absorbed more slowly than Trileptal (more of a curve than a sharp peak), and in turn have fewer side effects, and/or be more tolerable.
You can read about Trileptal here http://crazymeds.us/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Meds/Trileptal as well as search for posts about it here on CWE.

Have you been on any other AEDs? I would ask your neurologist what other AEDs he's prescribed for TLE in the past, and what has the best track record.

Best,
Nakamova

Only hooked up with a neurologist 2 days ago to chat about 'euphoric seizures',(i had no idea that is what they were) and was asked if I wanted to take part in some trial for Eslicarbazepine acetate and just wanted to find more about side effects etc compared to others meds (tegretal/ carbatrol), found some but not a lot of info, on this, but will check out that site out. cheers
no not been on any other meds
