Hello I'm new to this forum,

My daughter has had one T/C seizure that we have seen in Jan 2008 and then went on to have several partials.

Since this her school has notice her being in a trance like state in her class. This has only happened once as far as we are concerned.

She has had an EEG which was clear and a CT scan as Tuberous selerosis was suspected . The Ct scan was clear. At this moment we are waiting to see what her doctor wants to do. She is not on med's . Her moods can be very interesting at times. I could go on and on but I think I'll save that for another day.

I look forward to talking to you.

Epilepsy is in my family my mums brother and my fathers sister

Hi tigger - Welcome to CWE
My daughter had her first seizure in June 2006 at the age of 14. How old is your daughter?
My daughter is now off of all meds, as I believe they made her seizures worse.
Epilepsy is not in my family, but migraines are (they are now classified in the same group).

You might read up on the alternatives posted here:
http://www.coping-with-epilepsy.com/index.php?p=alternative-treatments
so that you have more to discuss with your doctor, than just prescriptions.
Moods... are we talking teenage or pre-adolescence? YIKES

Hi tigger, welcome to the forum. :hello:

I guess it's good that the CT scan was clear. Even if it leaves you still searching for answers, I suppose that's better than knowing for sure that it's Tuberous Sclerosis.

How old is she if you don't mind my asking (teenager/puberty)?

Welcome to the forums tigger. I hope you enjoy your stay here. Everyone here trys to help each other. Again welcome and I hope you enjoy it here.

Thank you

My little one has just turned 8 years .
We had alot of stress leading up to her first seizure and we think that is what may have caused everything to start. Her doc said that she has a low seizure thershold so I guess it was just waiting to triggered.

At the moment she is down as having a seizure disorder but he has not said for def that it is epilepsy . Mind you all of a sudden he mentions about her epilepsy :woot:.
Confused I am . Her seizures seems to be at night and are hard to witness. We tend to know when something is up because she is a good girl on the lead up then the following morning when you wake her up we notice blood stains on her sheets near her head and her throat or mouth tend to hurt her.
:ponder:

Welcome Tigger! As you can see, this group is really friendly. :) Feel free to ask any questions that you may have. And if you need a place to just vent, try visiting the Padded Room.

Tigger - It is a confusing time.
All Epilepsy means is that she has had two or more unprovoked seizures. Silly label in my book. Good that you have realized that her seizure threshold needs to be raised.

We went the medication route. Followed all the conventional methods. It was horrible for my daughter. Some might say we just didn't find the right fit, but it wasn't worth the adventure to find it. Most of the meds increased her seizures.

Now we do a combination of, good nutritional choices, vitamin and minerals to support brain function, especially high magnesium, and Neurofeedback. The NF has reduced seizures, improved academic results, and emotional health.

Have you looked into any dietary changes?
