Help!

My daughter was woken at 8:00 AM to have her 500 mg of keppra and went back to sleep. When she woke up at about 11, she no memory of yesterday. We went to see banner day at Citi Field, came home, washed cars and had some of my son's friends over.

She seems to have lost all recollection between going to sleep on Saturday night and this morning. When she had her Grand Mal seizures, she only lost 30-40 minutes of memories. This is her second episode of this type. The previous one was Mother's Day night and she lost all memory of that day as well. It had been two weeks since that and we were starting to feel comfortable. Now back to square one.

I don't know how to describe this morning's event, because I didn't witness it. Two weeks ago, she seized for about 10 seconds and was awake within 3-4 minutes, but lost the day.

Anyone have this experience?

Thanks,

Tom

The memory loss strongly suggests that she had a seizure overnight. You should let her neurologist know. Assuming that she didn't accidentally miss a dose, maybe her Keppra dosage should be increased, or a different medication tried instead.

I've had seizures where substantial memory loss occurred. After the most recent one, I insisted to a friend that my laptop computer must have been stolen from my house, because it was missing. Fortunately, my friend had spoken with me on the phone the day before, and knew that I had taken it in to a shop that day for repairs. My entire memory of that day was wiped out.

Thanks!

As the administrator of medication, I know didn't miss a dose. We document the time and date every dose and vitamin that she takes. I have alarms set for every keppra dose and she takes it between 11 and a half and 12 and a half hours of the previous one. Most are within minutes of 12 hours. She took a 100 mg of B2 last night before bed, because we were out in the afternoon and I didn't have it with me, but we never forget the keppra.

Doubt I'll get the neurologist today, but it is worth a try.

Just curious -- why was she taking the B2? Was it to help with her headache?

I hope something starts to help with the headache soon. :(

Thanks!

I hope something starts to help with the headache soon. :(

I was going to try 400 mg of Magnesium, but my wife is worried that Mg on top of 100 mg of B2, 100 mg of B6 and 1000 mg of generic Keppra will be too much for her.

Thanks!

Tom
