It's okay, take some deep breaths..

That's okay. I've done that before too! :)

I hope you're feeling better now.

Rae is doing a bit better. I'm sure she'll be back on here soon making us all smile!

Wonderful to hear about Rae! So glad she's doing better. I don't even know her that well and I'm really worried for her. She sounds like a cool person.

I'm doing a bit better. Took a lorazepam and went straight to bed, but woke up still having little auras.
is there any correlation between sunburn and seizures if my main trigger is heat? I got sunburned pretty badly on my legs yesterday (and everywhere else).

Sunburn can definitely affect you if you have heat sensitivity -- it can be a sign that you are dehydrated, and it's a bit like having a low-grade fever. Make sure to drink a lot of water, eat properly, and stay as cool as possible.

I just took another half an ativan along with my daily dose of depakote. My fan is on and I'm sitting right in its path. Feeling a little better, but hoping I won't have to take any more medication.

Still having them, though. any suggestions? This all started at dinner last night and still happening this morning.

Maybe take a cool shower, or put your feet in a bucket of water?

sounds like a good idea. Not stable enough for a shower right now, but I'll try the bucket of cool water

I hope you feel better soon. It's okay to move slowly, take a deep breath, lie down if it feels better. Listen to the radio, or your favorite music...

thank you for the advice and the well-wishes. :)

I just wish my room wasn't on the lower floor of th house. everythine and everyone else is upstairs.

so sorry , I had to spend 4th of July that way as well just with constant aura's
they would go down just enough to make me think I was okay then pop back up
I had to just keep taking the Xanax over a 24+ hr period. I've only hd to do that one other time.
I blame heat, dehydration as I had worked 2 days prior in the yard all day.

constant auras triggers, same?

I will share that heat (most especially sunburn, even if mild) will typically cause auras and/or complex partial seizure for me, almost 100% rate. Not drinking enough water will make this even more likely...if I drink plenty of water, sleep well and dont skip any meals, being outdoors for several hours even if in 80s has been fine since on medication. Wear GOOD sunglasses and sunscreen and that might help as well. I totally understand where you are at with this, mine used to last a day or two when I had same experiences with sun-burn, lack of water, etc... I hope you feel better soon!

I did end up having a seizure. I would have been two weeks seizure-free in two days. But yesterday I went to spend some family time at a restaurant and I had a tc in the restroom. My brother and sister in law weren't getting along, and so on top of that and the heat and the sunburn, my body just couldn't handle it.

Fortunately, my sister-in-law was ther to make sure I didn't hurt myself. Still, though... almost made the two-week checkpoint. Pretty discouraged.

Sorry to hear about your T/C, Literophile. I know I've had seizures rather constantly all my life. In 50 years I've never gone longer than 10 days without a seizure but I've just accepted it as part of life. It's only when I started counting days that I go without seizures & trying to break my record that I get frustrated. Before I was just happy to have a few days seizure free.

Keep track of your seizures & what happens but maybe keeping track of how long you go without only adds stress to a stressful situation.

Literophile,

Sorry I didn't see your post earlier. Everything is going to be okay. You are going to be okay.

Have you called your doctor? Auras are seizures. If you are having a constant aura all day that equals a seizure all day, which is definitely not good. They need to be stopped. My doc won't let auras go on - even small ones.

Do you have something relaxing to listen to? Is there a favorite thing you can do? Odd as it seems, the soundtrack to "On Golden Pond" sends me to a completely different place, and kind of hypnotizes me. I get very relaxed.

Will you let us know how you are doing?

Thanks, Eric. :) And I know, this may not be forever, and it may. Either way, there's no sense getting all stressed out about it. But you know, it being so new to me and all... I just want answers, you know?

Thank you, Endless. It's nice to hear that.

No, she doesn't know anything about this kind of situation. She would just tell me to take a lorazepam and go to bed, which I did. I wouldn't even bother with the neurologist. He thinks I'm doing this all for attention.

I like to listen to the High Kings when I'm having a lot of auras. Their harmonies are mesmerizing...

I'll keep you updated. Thanks for wanting to know. :) Means a lot.
