Hey all,

I had another fun TC yesterday. I think I have a sprained neck - anyone have experienced with that? I cracked my head on a wall and my neck's killin' me.

I had funny responses post-ictal apparently. I'm a smoker, an EMT asked me if I'd had any other seizures that day and I responsed, 'About a Pack.' I got my age wrong by a decade, thought the EMT was my wife in the ambulance ride and called her baby.

All because my sister-in-law woke me up and startled me after spending a day packing boxes and moving things into a storag (I'm moving.) They put me on the standards ativan drip at the ER and I went on my way AM after they took forever to get my blood results.

I had an ENORMOUS myoclonic jerk that was fullybody right before hand though, whish sent me flying about 2 feet backwards causing my neck injury... I was able to say, 'I'm having a seizure' after that and then went right in.

Anyways, Epilepsy really sucks, I'm sore all over and my neck hurts everytime I move. Anyone ever crack their head/injure their neck, ever? Know good tricks to help?

Did they x-ray your neck at the ER? Nothing broken? If it's just a sprain, there's not a whole lot you can do other than wait for it to heal. Plus the same basic steps as with a back strain: intervals of icing, ibuprofen as needed, moist heated towels, ultrasound if you see a P.T.

Sorry you had to go through that, hope you feel better soon.

good neck stretches that work for me:
stand up straight, hands on your femur joints (not the pelvic arch/hip, but lower), and shrug shoulders down motioning to squeeze your femur joints together, arching your back to stick your ribs out, stretching down alternating your shoulders forward and backward while keeping your hands on your femur joints. keep your head level this whole time
alternate doing this with the self-hug (use one arm to reach behind the armpit of the other arm, and then place the other arm on top to grab the shoulder of the first arm), starting with your elbows pointing down, not out, then during the hug use your bottom arm to raise your upper arm gently a couple inches
alternate your arms, giving each arm an opportunity to be on top/bottom and repeat the motions
the further behind your armpit you can grab the better

during each of these do very gradual motions and keep your back straight, chest out and shoulders down and keep your head level

alternate each of these with a simple head drop- back straight and look down
look back up, turn your head to the right (and left, alternating)

I guess I can't explain it very well

also try imagining you have a... tight body condom (?) on covering your legs up to just below your ribs (like a potato sack) and you're trying to unroll it off of your hips sliding your thumbs and forefingers down over your hips down to your femur joints as far down your femurs as you can and keep repeating that motion while keeping your palms level to the ground (without straining your hands)
keeping your back straight and head level

just pay attention to your body nuances because these can get twerky with the muscles but you ought to be able to find some good stretches in these motions
