Hello all. I am still getting used to the idea of having seizures, eventhough i was diagnosed almost seven years ago. I have on avg 5-7 partials complex seizures a day. I also avg several generalized seizures a month. My seizures are getting worse not better, but hey i am not worse for the wear. I have been on several meds including lamictal and phenobarbitol when i was pregnant, and topamax. Currently i am taking Keppra, tegratol XR, and vimpat (which i really dislike). I have two kiddos and a supportive husband. Although my driving priveledges have been revoked, i still have a dream that i can drive again one day, and be as siezure free as i can. I found this group while looking up information on brain surgery and VNS. That is the new word that is being tossed around by my doctors, and i am not sure that is a road i want to travel. Before my diagnoses, i was military and an aircraft mechanic. Now i am a stay at home wife, mostly due to the fact that i can't drive and am unable to do the work i love. If ya have any questions please ask, i am an open book for the most part. I look forward to getting to know all of ya :roflmao:

Thanks Nakamova, researching the surgery option is what led me here. I still have other meds to try, and i want to make sure that surgery is my last option, only because of the mixed results. I have found that 33% of people have no results, 33% have decreased siezure activity with meds, and that 33% have excellent results with no meds. For me it is a very scary step, i have two young children, and the recovery time alone is kinda turning me off. But I will have to wait and see what happens.

Hi, Steph,

Welcome!

Yes, there are lots of drugs to try. If you have questions about VNS there are a bunch of strings on here about it. Go to the "search" function on the top RH side of the screen and type in "VNS"

Thanks endless,
I am still getting used to this forum, I couldn't find the search bar but did find the laboratory section... it has been interesting to say the least.. thank you

Welcome Steph,

To find the search option look at the top right of the page where you log out, beside that is a "quick links" button & beside that is a "search" option. Just click the down arrow to show you the search window. It's really handy!
