My name is Tracy. I came across your website when I was googling information on how long I was going to feel so sore after the seizure I had at work a couple of days a go. I have left temporal lobe damage from repeated abuse by my ex-husband. I was having peti mal seizures for years and suddenly had a grand mal seizure. I take 400mg. of Topamax every night. Lately, I've been having tremors in my left arm, shakes in my right, and the peti mal seizures are almost daily. I had a grand mal at the end of a meeting. I know I shouldn't be embarassed by it, but I was. I never had this happen in a room full of people before. I am scared that it is going to come to a point that medication will not help because my brain is damaged-I am damaged. I have not let this interfere with my life. I refuse to. But sometimes, I just want to curl up and disappear. These seizures are coming back head on at a really stressful time.

Hello Tracydee,

Glad to hear you say you not letting this beat you! You are an inspiration!

None of us can predict the future...We can only be happy we have today.

"Really stressful time" could be why they coming head on. Do you get any warning/aura? Do you carry a medical alert bracelet /necklace with info on what to do if you do have a seizure?

I don’t have seizures, my Son does. Feel it’s important to warn colleagues on what to do if he has one public, and he has had T/Cs at work. So educating those around u on the what to do is important. Purple Day I brought Epilepsy and seizure management info to my office and was surprised to see the folders disappear...

what I can say, once you have seen a 1st seizure the normal human reaction is to want to know how to help not judge the person having a seizure. the 1st is bit scary to witness, especially if not forewarned on what to do is in fact what makes it scary, u was in a meeting so u covered a few of them on one go there.

I hope you are receiving good medical care?

Welcome Tracydee,

Glad to hear you have addressed the abuse. Sorry you had to have the experience. Feel free to ask questions and know that you are among friends.

I wish you health and happiness.

Enjoy the day,

Tom

I also hope that you got help dealing with your husband's abuse. I'm so sorry that happened to you.

I do have warnings before a seizure, so I usually know to lie down. This one came on pretty quickly. I had informed my employers of my seizure history, so they were alarmed, but not completely shocked. I did have one coworker who knew how to handle it, because she has twin cousins who have epilepsy. I hope your son handles his disorder well and does not let is control his life. It is an interferance at times, and an annnoyance. But life is full of iterferances and annoyances. We have to work past them.

Hi TracyDee, glad you found us! You're going to find alot of good info on here, I know I did.

It's very good that you've did all this because I was going to suggest everything you have done! The more people know about epilepsy the better and they won't go running away when you have one.

Since you do have warnings maybe you could possibaly let someone know that one is coming on and get you somewhere, if possible, that there isn't a room full of people? You don't need to be embarased about having one. I've had a good many seizures in public places that I've started telling myself 'It just happens!'

Have you let your dr know about your icrease in seizures? You might need a change in your medicine.

Stress is a huge seizure trigger for me. Anytime I'm stressing over something I start having seizures like crazy.
