Sorry if there is already a thread about this on here.

Just wondering if anyone has any hobbies that they regularly do?

I read, crochet, and knit. Just finished a baby blanket for someone at work. Starting on a teddy bear today.

My horses are my passion in life. My goal is to master the art of classical horsemanship. Or, to put it simply, learn to dance with my horses. My dear Mozart died this January - he was 32. I grieved for a long time but had to move forward and find a new horse who would be a "brother" to Tango. I do believe Mozart led me to find the perfect horse for both me and Tango. So Weltcom is now at the farm with Tango and they best of "brothers".

And Weltcom takes care of me - exactly what the doctor ordered (and that is true, my doctor is always telling me I must see my horses!)

A bit more that you probably wanted to know and not really a hobby. More a reason for living!

Not at all. Do they live on your property? My dad has a horse, but she lives at my cousin's since she has a barn and her own horses. My dad takes my son over there on Sundays to feed, brush, and ride her. I believe they're going on a weekend long ride this month with some of my dad's friend's and camping.
What got you interested in horses?

Tango & Weltcom live on a beautiful farm about 40 minutes from where I live. The travel time is a bummer but the place is so very relaxing and laid back. Reminds me of a mini-version of the farm I had when I was still married. And I keep reminding myself that quality is more important that quantity.

I've always loved the beauty and grace horses possess. That goes back to even before I had epilepsy (first seizure at 10 y/o). No one else in my family is horse oriented so possibly it comes from being a Sagittarius!

Have you ever been in any competitions?

My son and I are fossil hunters--We look for fossils (mostly ammonites, the big coiled shells you see in rock shops) and prep them (using air tools to work them out of the rock). We've been doing it for many years, and have some that a museum is interested in displaying on loan. We are major geeks

I've shown in hunter classes, done 1 day events, dressage tests, ridden on hunter paces and rode in real hunts. Mostly with my first horse, a Quarter Horse/Thoroughbred cross who was so very good to me. I just had to sit still and "smile for the judges" and he did all the work. Then I met a fabulous trainer who became my husband and we had a most interesting life with horses. He showed me the importance of the basics - if you have them right then you can do anything.

So now I am focused on the basics. Getting me right. I've had a back problem all my life. Luckily it turned out to be a muscle that knotted up and pulled me all off balance (it's gotten a lot better). Both Weltcom & Tango are very balanced horses so sitting in balance with them is a lot easier. There have been moments when Tango & I have "danced" and they are unforgettable!

Sounds extremely interesting! When I was a little kid we lived near clay banks, and often found fossils buried. Where do you go to look for them?

When I was younger I went horse Riding but have stopped that now and Just sit on my computer which I know is bad but I go to the gym instead.

I really need to think up some hobbies. I am ordering some scoobies (like the plastic string you make bracelets/keyrings out of. I know I'm 22 but they are still fun!

Do you live in an area that is rich in fossils?

My dad used to watch a lot of shows on the farming channel that had horse show competitions. It was amazing to watch.

I work on cars, get to race sometimes, play video games, get to play on internet radio, play with guns. The list could probably go on.

I used to play world of warcraft which is when my sleep problems started. It is a bad hobby and only keeps me from socialising

I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of your horse! It's so hard to lose a loved one, especially an equine partner.

I ride horses, too, and I love classical horsemanship! I took dressage lessons a long time ago, but I cannot afford them anymore. I rescued my mare in 2005 so we've had each other for nearly nine years now. She was abused, as well as green broke so I (rather stupidly) worked with her myself, but somehow we both came out of it not only alive, but the better for it. She's great and I quickly realized she was "training" me all along! I tend to prefer Iberian breeds and their descendants-- she's a Peruvian Paso, although she trots and gaits. My friend has an Andalusian, too. I ride for fun.

I love being outdoors: hiking, canoeing, running, traveling, anything. I also love books and reading, movies, and napping. Plus, non-human animals. I work in academia so I spend a great deal of time PhDing as I call it. It makes me anxious so I wind up with the pony trying not to rip out my hair or cry.

I had 21 wonderful years with Mozart; they were magical with he and Tango teaching me so much. I did realize that what I was grieving for was the future we would not have. And I wondered how I could ever find a horse who was Mozart's rightful successor. I do believe Mozart had it all planned out. Because I started to look at just the right time. He led me to thru numerous websites and finally to a link that had a picture of a Hanoverian out of top bloodlines. There mom, that's my successor! Weltcom was a show jumper and then did well in dressage tests. I find it magical how he fits in so incredibly well with our family. He and Tango bonded immediately and are best of friends. And he is calm and patient with me and so very willing to dance when I "get it right".

I know what you mean about the affording lessons. I solved that by marrying my trainer! We bought of farm in upstate New York and bred Andalusian stallions to Thoroughbred mares. We bred Tango which makes him really special.

Horses really are the most wonderful of God's creatures!

Always have to get outside and change the routine. Especially with all the medication we take. Sometimes you have to fight yourself to get out. Tomorrow I'm bleeding the brakes, fixing the shifter knob, and the battery terminals on the truck. Something to do.
