I was curious, I don't know much about absence seizures, I'm curious if there are things people who have them notice about them, I have no idea if I've ever had one, but there are plenty of times where My mind kinda wonder offs for a moment, "zoning out" then I can't think about what I was thinking about, maybep they are why I had a hard time in school, we didn't have ADD or any of that when I was going to school but I did have trouble concentrating and being in the moment.

Personally, abscence effect me like this, its like someone is putting electric shocks through my brain,i forget what im going to say,or start a sentence, then cant finish it,stuttering is another give away. Also i tend to be miles away,im not sure but i reckon if i stayed up there is a possibility of going into tonic.
But some are worse than others, last longer too.I seem to be able to go to bed and sleep them off without any incidents, hope thats of some help.

i agree with neil mine are a lot of the same way i have a lot through out the day and i was diagnosed as a child with adhd and my neurologists thinks misdiagnoses they jump to conclusions.

My son (13) has them but can not tell me how he feels--he has autism.
He stops what he is doing, his eyelids close half-way and then they flutter.
In a few seconds, he continues on with what he was doing.

Before AED, the episodes would be so quick (1-2 seconds) that I was not sure if he was having a seizure. This happened multiple times per day. Now that he is on AED, I see less seizures (once a month or so), but they last 10-15 seconds.

Are the AEDs really helping???

The brain unplugs my speech and motor functions. Can't move, think, speak, write, no sense of time, and I think to myself...ok something is going on where am I...I am in a familiar environment but can't recall why I am there or where I am for a few minutes or how long I was spaced out. Then I come back to earth and I am fine again...and hope nobody has seen me. Might happen two or three times or not at all.
