How do you know if you have seizures in your sleep?

do nocturnal seizures make you feel any different than any other day? I am starting to suspect that I am having more and more every day. I have been biting the side of my cheek in my sleep more often. I feel like I havent fall asleep but I have and noticed the bed sheet has come off. Today I woke up from a huge jerk from my left leg.

Today when I was having a dream it felt like my body was vibrating, which then my body woke up but nothing seemed any different from the position I was last in.
 
I've had nocturnals all my life, but I wake up from mine before due to having aura's.

Sometimes I have to get out of the bed as I am having visualisations during the sz that someone is trying to stab me; therefore my main aim at the time is to leave the 'horrible' place where it is happening - hence I get out of bed.

Other times I still have them in bed, aura first, but am able to just fight it through, and then sleep.

Over the past year or two I've noticed that I will wake up earlier too, if I've had a nocturnal seizure - great, huh ?....just what we need when we're already feeling shattered !

I have woken the next day not completely sure if I had one, or not. Sometimes I may get a flash-back that suggests it DID happen, but I try my best not to bother pondering on if I did or didn't, and just getting on with the day, and my life.
 
Something about my nocturnal seizures that I only remembered because I had one a couple of nights ago, is that I almost always have to pee after one of them. I occasionally have to pee after a regular day seizure but almost always if it's nocturnal.

I haven't found any connection between the noc seizures & drinking liquids before bed though.

I used to pee the bed when I was a kid, because of my sz's.

I think Bernard posted somewhere before about the peeing being a form of 'release' after shock, so to speak (not as detailed as Bernard was able to explain, but you catch my drift?)

I have still by accident found in the morning that I may have made a 'line' on the carpet too :oops: Still, it happens I guess.

Hey everyone,

I have seizures 7nights a week,but I am also waiting for spinal surgery so some times I am not sure whats what.

The night usually goes like this--approx 10-15 minutes before falling asleep
arms and legs start twitching quite heavily sometimes followed by feet kicking each other and curling toes.When I fall asleep activity gets much worse.
I wake up several times a night punching and or kicking the wall or myself.
Alot of pelvic thrusting followed by straight back with stomach in the air.
I wake up often with a strange grunt or aaaaahhh and am sitting up right.
(hard to tell if that is from my constant nightmares or not.)
In morning,often wake up with bad headaches and or severe abdominal pain,
confused and spacey.Worst part is muscles from waist down are in so much pain I often cannot get out of bed for about 6 hours.Sometimes I wake up with toes and feet in skijump position-facing my head.

Also druel alot,grind teeth and chomp.(many of my teeth are half broken)
I then wake up to have seizures most of the day.

I know this from myself and is confirmed by partener.

Yeesh nightfighter... you sound more broken than you actually appear in life :lol:

I definitely can confirm these things to be true *sigh* You grunted last night again, and the toes curling, and rubbing your feet, ski-jump legs, and you had rhythmic jerking of your shoulders/arms. Remind me to record that in the diary.
 
I have woken up sever as l Times with new scratches, or I'm . On the floor. Also, I have had "accidents" and not woke up till after. It happened the other day during a nap and that has never happened to me before. I'm still upset about it. Has this happened to anyone else?
 
For me, I only know if I had a seizure at night is when I wake up to a wet bed. But then I only know when I've had a seizure is when I've lost control or someone has witnessed one since it doesn't happen every time.
 
pee, waking up on the floor, waking up in chair. waking up in the bathroom floor, apnea.

ADVENTURE!!!
 
I'm sure people do drool in their sleep but my ex used to tell me that I only drooled when I was having complex partials when I was sleeping.

Post ictal headache and feeling like I've run a marathon when I haven't are signs that I've had a tonic clonic. Sometimes I do get unexplained bruises and scratches but they can just as easily be from complex partials while awake--I am a bull in a china shop when they happen and I usually notice bruises and such when I shower in the mornings. I wouldn't have a clue if I had other kinds of seizures in my sleep unless someone was there--and my pillow hasn't seen any heads other than mine for some time lol.
 
I'm still new to my diagnosis and understanding it but I do believe I've had a couple in my sleep and originally blew them off as something else.
Once I woke up in the middle of the night and instantly started vomiting. When I got back in bed even sitting up made my head spin and everything kept going black around me, which is typical for me after a TC and an absent. Even laying down if I opened my eyes the room was spinning, my ears rang loudly and I had a killer headache. This happened before my E diagnosis so the doctors blew it off as a "panic attack" until we later learned I was having seizures.
It's not too often but I will also wake up with horrible scratches, I thought I was sleep walking and going outside but it just didn't make sense. When I started paying attention to the way I felt when I woke up the next day I could tell it was more than just mere sleep walking. I always felt horribly groggy, completely out of it, confused and dizzy.
I don't sleep alone but my husband is such a heavy sleeper I've shaken him to wake him up during these episodes and he still rolls over for a minute until he realizes what I've said lol.

I don't know much about nocturnal epilepsy but if you speak with a specialist they may be able to schedule a sleep study. When I wake up in a puddle of drool, which is rare, to me it means I actually got decent sleep that night lol
