Hi qtowngirl,

It was actually a few years ago now.. so nothing to worry about at the present. Thanks for the concern though. :)

I do consider auras and sp's to be in the same category, but I like to differentiate them based on their difference in severity. I've had many aura level situations evolve into sp's which affect my short term memory, and many that do not.

The whole experience lasted for a few days, on and off the auras and sp's went, but 8 hours was the longest spell. Maybe a better way to describe it.. the auras were almost continual, and I would have periodic sp's, maybe one per hour. It was pretty exhausting I have to say.

Apart from those few days, I haven't had a situation like that in my whole life. Just normal sp's and tc's. :P

Chris... Oh good! Sounds like things have gotten better then.
And ya I hear you, they are EXHAUSTING.
Best of luck to you that you never experience that again =)

Mine wasn't up there. My simple partials can last up to a few hours. But only generalized one time.

Wobblez, going by the timeframe I'm assuming you mean it was a complex partial?
Simple partials don't last that long, maybe come and go, come and go, but not a straight one for 33 minutes.
.

My simple Partials last from a few minutes to a few hours.
It's the Simple Partial version of Status Epilepticus- "Epilepsia Partialis Continua":

http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/1164462-overview
By definition, simple partial SE consists of seizures that are localized to a discrete area of cerebral cortex and produce no alteration in consciousness. Because this form of epilepsy is rare, no good studies have been done to determine its incidence.

Focal SE can arise in any region of the cortex. When motor cortex is affected, the condition is termed epilepsia partialis continua (EPC), which characteristically involves repetitive, often rhythmic, unilateral focal twitching of the limbs and/or face, usually with preservation of consciousness. This sparing of consciousness subcategorizes EPC as a form of simple partial SE.

Yeah Status is another story altogether; Wobblez so glad you called the nurse and went to the hospital that day!!

My simple partial seizures usually last less than a minute. I am aware that something is happening but am unable to do anything about it. It's like an "out of control" feeling. They usually come in groups. Yesterday I had about 10 of them. My complex partials only happen several times a month but I become unconscious during the seizure part of it. This is according to my husband, daughter and a friend that have seen them. According to them, I call my husband's name during them. That part of the seizure only lasts a couple minutes, but afterwards it usually takes about 10 to 15 minutes for me to get oriented again. Different types of seizures last differerent amounts of time (for different people). It really will take a witness to determine how long yours are lasting.

Thats a good way of putting it! I feel the same way. I can hear what people are saying to me, see what is going on, but its like its totally out of my control as to what I can do til its over with. After is over, my body hurts, feels weak and Im tired. My head hurts too.

My simples usually last around 5 minutes, give or take. I get most of the feelings that everyone described. It's sort of like my body is there but my head doesn't seem to be attached onto it. I'll get the dizy feeling and confused about what's going on.

My complex will go on usually about 5 and 10 minutes. Sometimes I'll have simples before but I don't know that I've had them because everything get's blacked out.

The only way that my husband and I had known I was having a simple before the complex is because I have a VNS. My husband will see that when I'm having a complex I'll have the magnet in my hand and was using it. But when I come out of it I don't remember that either had happened.

New One for me.

Lately I've been experiencing "UnPlugged". I am perfectly fine then all of the sudden "kabam'! Someone or something has shut me down. It litterally feels like the power has been shut off. I cant move, I feel like I weigh a ton. From my head to my toes every muscle is tense. No warning, just "Kabam". Even my face feels like its sliding off (because of gravity). If I try to move when its happening, I start feeling like I have my finger stuck in a light sockett, it's not painful, but very uncomfortable. Except for my ankles and wrist, they pop and feel twisted. I bet no one else gets this feeling?
