Get togethers= where some friends get together not a huge thing with a bunch of people etc

Some ideas:

-- Have a "Tasting" party -- cheeses, or candy, or chocolate, or smoothies or flavored popcorn, You can have the tastings be blind and then vote.

-- Theme potlucks (everyone bring foods that are orange, or foods that start with "h" or retro foods...).

-- Game Nights/Poker Nights/Movie Nights

Or just "get together" without booze being the theme for the party.

hehehe food partys are a great idea, and i bet there are millions of 70's fondue sets spread about the charity shops of the world- only ever used once and looking for a good home :p

Game Nights/Poker Nights/Movie Nights

regularly do all these, Mah Jong as well- it's great to play betting games with people that are drinking more than you, you end up winning loads ;)

at the end of the day i'm not the best person to give advice on this, but whether you have seizures or not after, you'll see eventually there's much more to life than playing beerpong and doing jagerbomb chasers...

... though i admit it's fun :)

massive respect to you for trying to seek out other ways of having a laugh with your mates- took me years after diagnosis to calm it down and i'm still no saint 20 years on..

they don't play poker?! show me where they live and i'll quite happily teach -only 10 bucks a head for the poker pot ;)

Uh were basically all 18-20, how old did you think we are? 30?

lol tbh i thought you were a little bit younger.

games nights with mates are always a laugh, drunk or not- they never get together nd play Guitar Hero? or some other videogame? or even just stupid karaoke nights lol they're allways fun :)

Hmmm...... I thought 30 was now considered young! You must consider some of us over 40 or 50 ancient?!

noooo! :(

we're suggesting you try out other themes for get-togethers- coz you were worried that a) you were having side-effects after your beerpong nights, and b) your mates aren't really into anything else by the sound of it..

just try making a few of these suggestions to them- they don't have to stop having a drink if that's what they wanna do, and if there's another point to the night instead of getting wasted then you can have fun doing that instead.

sorry if i'm being preachy- that's not what i meant to do...

it's a really difficult question to answer, but we're just trying to suggest other things for you..

peace :)

I'd rather not ruin the party for them. and I mostly felt like shit because I believe It was the 4 shots I had I starting feeling shity after only 2.....

well I do

So, maybe you need some new fiends if you'd rather not ruin the party.
'Cause sometimes those type of friends aren't worth it. My seizures started when I was young (is 23 young in your book?) and back then I was big into partying. But once I started having big time TC seizures and suffered serious injuries from seizures, no more booze and pot. And I found a different set of friends.

I know it's tough trying to keep the party going without the usual drink props. Maybe just be up front with your pals and ask for their advice? Let them know that you can't drink the way you used to, but you love hanging out with them and are counting on their creativity to come up with fun things to do together that aren't centered around alcohol...

I never did drugs before?

the three main guys know about it, but that's what they do sometimes they do go out and do other stuff w/o drinking but whenever they just go to someones house its drinking

Azusa,

These people have great ideas. I wish i knew them when i first quit drinking. Now I have a blast in life and all sober. I like to tell people I do not need to 'use' anything, I am like this forever. It took a while and new friends too but sooo worth it. I also find so much support/comfort by sharing my trials on here about anything and never being judged. Thank you

where am I suppose to find these so called friends? I cannot drive?

Totally understand. I can not drive either (now). I have met so many people by getting out and trying new things. For example; and this may sound completely stupid but the library got me introduced to some which led to a philosophy discussion group which led to a church where i met so many. ( before you judge. It is a unitarian universalist church (non denominational and very philosophical. See? deciding what i like and trying it got me turned on to new stuff and i could try more. Just do what you love to do.

PS. i don't know where you are but is there an E group in your community? I made good friends at a brain-injury group i found here. I think the world gets really big when we venture out of our comfort zone to try new stuff.
