Hello, My 20 year old daughter just started taking magnesium (ionic). She says its nasty! She has been taking it with orange juice but she hates it. Any suggestions would be appreciated...Thanks!

I'm guessing the ionic form is a liquid. I would use a syringe and squirt it far back, swallow and then follow with something that tastes good. No need to make the whole beverage taste nasty!

Hi zman --

Does she have to take the ionic kind? I take the capsule variety with no taste issues.
What brand is she taking? She might go for this one: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Pure-Essence-Ionic-fizz-Magnesium-Raspberry/dp/B00014JONY or this one http://www.vitacost.com/Pure-Essence-Labs-Ionic-Fizz-Magnesium-Plus-Raspberry-Lemonade"]404 Looking for Something?[/ame]

She had brain surgery in July of 2010 to remove and non cancerous tumor. It went well but then 5 months later she had a tonic clonic which scared the crap out of us. She has been put on meds but we are educating our selves on a better approach. She has all the signs of low magnesium so I have read that Ionic is the best absorbed. She has started taking it daily along with a atkins diet. We are being told this should pass as her brain adjust to everything.

She complains that the liquid is nasty. Thanks for the input. I am going to check out the flavored stuff from amazon.

Just a

thought. There is a member here, RobinN, who uses ionic magnesium as well--both she and her daughter. She might have a few good ideas. If she doesn't pop in sometime soon (day or so), send her a PM. She'll answer you quickly.

There is a product called MagCalm which is either lemon flavor or raspberry/lemon flavored (natural flavors) that is sweetened with stevia. I think it tastes good. You make a warm drink out of it to dissolve the mag. You could let it cool if you prefer to drink it warm.

You can purchase it at health food stores.
