Not sure, if any, of the significance of this but I have epilepsy and have been dealing with T/Cs for a little over 2 years now. Yesterday I think I had my first absence seizure. My buddy and I were just chilling in the living room and I remember him, in a joking manner, yelling at me for staring at him and I had no control over this, I remember him being there and remember him yelling at me but I had no control. He's aware of my seizure disorder but I don't think he knows about absent seizures. I remember it vaguely, I don't remember talking at all, I remember being very stiff and dizzy. I had this happen and sometime after I had another T/C. I don't have all the details yet, I lost the WHOLE DAY, and my buddy is still sleeping. Is it normal to experience different types? 2 years in and this is the only absence seizure that I know I had.

Just not sure how to take this as far as it being a new development goes.

It's fairly normal to experience more than one type, especially if you have a partial followed by a t-c. What you describe might have been a complex partial rather than an absence, since you were aware while it was happening but not able to respond.

Are you on meds? Sometimes those can change the pattern of seizure too.

Have there been any recent changes to your meds or your situation that might have been responsible for the partial seizure? Any particular trigger?

In 2 years I haven't come across any specific triggers. I play video games, watch movies late, smoke, drink, do all my normal everyday activities and I'm fine 30 out of 31 days a month. I talked to my buddy, the same old stuff for me. The only warning, not trigger, is all of a sudden I get REALLY tired, REALLY dizzy, and that means it's coming. And I know this yet EVERYTIME it happens the thought "a seizure is coming" never enters my mind. Yet if it were to happen right now, that's exactly what I would know an think, it's just weird.

It may be worth changing your routine to see if it helps. Triggers for seizures can be cumulative, or work in combination with others. They can change. Something that isn't a problem can become one. So, the first day of being fatigued isn't a problem, but the sixth day, with that extra cigarette and beer, might put you over the edge.
