I thought Id pop by and say hi! :)

Im at UNMC (University of Nebraska Medical Center) in the waiting room with our youngest son, waiting for my husband get done having a MRI. Whenever Im here, I think back to the time I had my VEEG here. You know whats weird? ... (well my mom and husband think its weird...) is that I love the smell of hospitals! :roflmao: We walked in and I told my husband, "Dont you just love the smell of hospitals?".... :roflmao:

He looked at me like I was alittle on the weird side! LOL

We came here so he can have a MRI done to check if he has a growth on his pituatary gland. He's been seeing a ureologist for low testosterone for almost two years now, and after 5 different testosterone therapy techniques, they still cant figure out why it is that the therapy hasnt worked. So after getting a nasty remark from the nurse practitioner at that office, I said were going to a different dr! We went to the dr who deals with hormone problems (the same dr I see for my PCOS) and she did a complete blood work up test, and found out he had some high and lows in his testing, so she had us get a MRI done. On monday, we come back to Omaha, to get to another dr, a cardio dr about the MRI findings and my husband's health with his high blood pressure problems.

Im just hoping and praying everything turns out fine and he can get the answers we've been looking for!

Can't say I love the smell of hospitals myself: Cafeteria food, antiseptics, plastic...

I hope things go well for you and your husband. Let us know.

Yeah, I dont know if its the spray they use, or what it is... I just like the way they smell! LOL

We got a copy of the MRI he had on a cd. Suprised me, since I didnt know they would let you have a copy! But I have idea what Im looking at on it!

He will be going to see Dr. Sears on Monday, October 3rd. He's a cardio dr, so maybe before then, if were lucky, we will find out if anything showed up on the MRI through the dr that ordered it?!

I tried to google the pituatary gland, of what it would look like on a MRI with contrast, and compare it what my husbands had, but I cant make out anything!

Wow, I need one of those cds so I have proof of having a brain!

Yeah I had no clue that they did that! If I would have known that, I would have asked for a cd of my brain when I had my MRI earlier this year!

Thought Id update you all on whats going on with the testing with my husband. When I started this post, I was in in the waiting room while he was getting a MRI done, on September 28th. Yesterday, October 3rd, we heard back from the dr that ordered the MRI and she said he did have a small growth on his pituatary gland. She said she wasnt too concerned, but still wants my husband to get checked out my the cardiologist that she referred him to. He has high blood pressure, and has had alot of testing done over the month of september.

The stuff that was "out of range" was the following....

Glucose Level: 116, is high... suppose to be between 65-99

Plasma Renin Activity: 17.15, is high... suppose to be between 0.25-5.82

LH: 0.3, is low... suppose to be between 1.5-9.3

Testosterone Total: 126, which is low... suppose to be between 250-1100

Free Testosterone: 34.9, is low... suppose to be between 35-155

The paper that we were given, has the ALDOSTERONE still pending... so Im going to call tomorrow to see if we can get that mailed to us.

Now, the dr that did all these tests, said she is not concerned with the growth being there, she doesnt think its big enough to be too concerned about... but in the mean time, before she gives him medication to help treat his problems with the low testosterone, she wants to make sure the tests that the cardiologist does, comes back normal and healthy.

My husband will have an echo test done on October 10th. and they did more blood work today to check his lipid panels. We will find out the results of that blood work and the echo test on October 17th when we go back for the results of everything.

I know this board is about epilepsy, but has anyone heard of Cushings Syndrome? Once we found out about the growth yesterday, I was googling somethings, and found information in regards to his symptoms....

Like for example... I found the following... (I highlited all the symptoms he has) Should we see if we can get referred to a Endrocrinologist that specializes in this area? The dr we are seeing now, deals with the reproductive hormones, who i see for PCOS, but I wanted to start out with her, since it was the low testosterone that was his problem in the first place. but since doing all these tests, and found out about the growth, I got the feeling were going to be needing to see a specialist!

Symptoms vary, but most people have upper body obesity, rounded face, increased fat around the neck, and thinning arms and legs. Children tend to be obese with slowed growth rates.

Other symptoms appear in the skin, which becomes fragile and thin. It bruises easily and heals poorly. Purplish pink stretch marks may appear on the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, arms and breasts. The bones are weakened, and routine activities such as bending, lifting or rising from a chair may lead to backaches, rib and spinal column fractures.

Most people have severe fatigue, weak muscles, high blood pressure and high blood sugar. Irritability, anxiety and depression are common.

Women usually have excess hair growth on their faces, necks, chests, abdomens, and thighs. Their menstrual periods may become irregular or stop. Men have decreased fertility with diminished or absent desire for sex.

He also has headaches, water retention in the lower legs, acne, like noted above, his glucose level was high too.

I don't know anything about Cushing's in people, just in dogs.

But I wish the best for you and your husband. Keep us posted!
