Saturday I recieved a Explaination of Benifits from the Hospital I had my VEEG done at..... I could have totally passed out when I saw the amount they had down for a 4 day VEEG! ...................................

ALMOST $19,000.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HOLY CRAP!

Luckly, I filled out the forms for Financial Aid, and today I got the letter stating I was 100% Covered for any medical expenses that was my liability!

If I hadnt of been approved for financial assistance, I would have had to pay 20% of the final bill!

Thank god for Financial Assistance! :)

Crazy, right? No wonder health insurance is so expensive, if that's what hospitals are billing.

heck yeah! Its crazy as can be! Almost $4,000 Each Day to do a 24 hr EEG!

Because they give you a private room for the VEEG's.... they charged $985 a night!

They are freaking crazy!

Yeah... mine was $50,000 for five days, and my insurance has an agreement with the hospital what the actual charges will be, which turned out to be around $27,000. The hospital writes off the rest. I didn't have to pay a dime, except for a $20 copay. Amazing. (Thanking god for insurance as we speak. I hope I always have it.)

Yeah our insurance is high, I go through my husband's insurance, which is blue cross blue shield. Heck we pay close to $600 a month for family insurance plan. But after seeing the costs of how much they charge for a 4 day VEEG, Im not complaining about having to pay that much for the insurance plan at this time.

It sucks that insurance rates are going through the roofs!

for 8 days all I paid was a 25.00 deductible too but thats because cleveland clinic and its satellite offices are the only place we can go

So far, I havnt had to pay for anything.

I really thought when I checked in on March 7th that I had a copay, but turned out, since it was an inpatient procedure I didnt have a copay. With our insurance, we had met our deductable, but just had a plan that the insurance covered 80%, and we covered the remaining 20%. But luckly since I was approved for the financial assistance, they covered me for the next 12 months. :)

19 grand? Wow, hospital bills are expensive! Glad you don't have to pay that! 600 a month insurance is pretty steep though... that's what....£400? Ouch.

My insurance price is even worse. $560 US/month for one person.

These are amazing, astronomical prices.

I was aware that healthcare in the States could be a bit pricey, but not that expensive!

every appt at clevclinic my epi bills 2800.00 for a single visit and assessment and this is the only place my insurance allows-I only pay a 25 deductible but WOW its no wonder people cant go to a well known facility

I go to an epileptologist at UC-Denver, and it isn't quite that expensive, although I do have to pay a 25 deductible, too. Plus I see an endocrinologist for diabetes at the same hospital and he is just as expensive, not to mention the price of insulin or the AEDs. Thank god for insurance. I'd be out on the streets if it weren't for insurance.

Yeah, If it wasnt for our insurance and being approved for financial aid, we would be having one hell of a bill! I started the Vimpat last night, and was given a weeks worth of 50mg tablets, which I take twice a day, and paid $25 for just the weeks worth. After taking the 50mg tablets, I will be on the 100mg tablets, and I can get a 6 month supply of those since its cheaper for us that way, instead of paying monthly.

Ya know, the NHS is not great and waiting lists are huge but I'm glad I don't have to pay them. Except of course on my taxes.
