i got sent home from school today

i got sent home today because i was so out of it. i have no idea what happened this morning, except for me being really dizzy. i was having continuous absence seizures, and for safety reasons, they sent me home

will this :soap: ever end? :crying:
 
That's no fun. Worth checking in with your doctor about...

I also had a very hard time with my school. Sorry to hear you're also having such a hard time.
 
If it were me I think I'd rather be sent home to possibly have the sez there than to have it at school.

The kids might get freaked out by what happened and get scared and not know what to do.

Plus, I don't know what type of sezs that you have, but I know there may be more things that are in the school that you could hurt your self on, but you could end up falling on a desk, down a flight of stairs or if you have swimming classes you may end up having one in the pool.

I'd rather be safe than sorry.

i was continuously having staring spells and was just zoning in and out. nothing major, but still safer to be home. i know it was for my own safety, but i like the classes this semester
 
What a

bummer deal! Sorry to hear that. Just think of it this way--the school is actually thinking of YOU. Talk to your doctor, see what they say, have some blood levels taken, and see if the meds need to be adjusted. It WILL all work out.....
 
Make sure you document these times including what you ate, how much sleep. stress triggers, medication times, etc... This can be very helpful to your doctor.

Safety first.

i do. i document all this in my phone's calender. well except for what i ate. he didn't tell me i needed that.
 
For many people, diet can be a major factor in controlling triggers, lowering thresholds, and how the brain functions. Robin and several others here know quite a lot about nutrition.

i feel so bad for you cuz i know excactly how it is in the one way its bad that he sended you home but on the other hand it is really good *i once had a grand mall at school * but the most worse is the way that you feel to the others in your classroom i think cuz now your different then how they are *atleast thats how i felt *

i really hope your ok now :P and fcourse on the other hand you had a day free ^^ always try to find the bright side

i am feeling better. it was probably from them upping my lamictal.which gets increased again on tuesday, hopefully it doesn't cause a similar effect. the only downside is i missed the notes in history, and while i did get a copy of them from a classmate, my teacher often explains it better verbally while we're getting the notes and uses examples he didn't use in writing
 
Can you ask your doctor about going a bit more slowly in tapering up the Lamictal? Keep a record of how you feel, especially after the next increase on Tuesday, to see if there's a connection.

no. i don't see him soon, and it's been doing me more good, besides that one bad day.
 
Hun. Everyone is giving excellent advise. I know how hard it must be. Not firsthand but through my brother. Keep a positive attitude even when it seem SO hard. Keep a note of everything that is going on and be sure to tell your doctor. Be honest. It may take some time but your doctor will find the proper treatment.

i'm being honest with him. i made him give my mom a lecture about seizure first aid (she grew up in the 70's and 80's, and apperently then they told you to shove your wallet or something else thick in a seizing person's mouth :eek: i've heard a spoon before, but never a wallet. yikes) thank god we set her straight, because me knowing this doesn't help when i'm unconscious on the floor.
 
OMG the wallet! :soap::eek: I came out of a seizure at a get-together once only to find 5 very large men holding me down and someone trying to stick a wallet in my mouth, people screeaming and crying...it was probably one of the more horrible episodes I have had. Apparently all of the careful instructions I had given my family flew out the window when faced with the real thing :( They were use to my brother's gf's absence seizures, TC's threw them for a loop.
 
No, no -- They're supposed to take the card out of the wallet that has the medical instructions in it. (I don't know what I would do if someone was trying to shove a wallet down my throat when I was coming out of a seizure. After freaking out, I would ask for their credit cards and cash.)
