Its not what you think. Finally I have an interview with the unemployment office to answer questions about my eligibility. They gave me a wide open window for the call of between 10a and 4p. Looks like I'm not doing anything today. Stay tuned:pop:

Wow, that's a long wait! I hope it's sooner than later for you so you can get back to your day!

Im excited to hear thing are starting to look up. I trully believe and pray this will work in your favor. That you get what you need and more. Please keep us posted. In the mean time, relax, find something fun to do to past the time.

HUGS!!!!
fingers, toes, eyes and ears all crossed!

The call took all of 5 minutes... They asked me 1 question... So they made me wait 20 days before they could call me and ask 1 question! :soap: Government at work. I should start receiving unemployment next week..I'd much rather have a job but It means I won't have to rely on other people as much.

good news bud. so, what was the question, if you don't mind me asking?

When the company fired me they told me they were going in a different direction. The question was there any other reason other than going in different direction. I wanted to tell her it was because of my epilepsy but I didn't I told her no.

but it was right? you should be entitled to a lot more than EI if you got fired b/c of anything health related. in canada employers aren't legally allowed to do that. if it's such that your disability/disease starts preventing you from being able to do the work, they are to 'let you go' or lay you off, which comes with full EI benefits. not fired, that is a crock of shit!!! fired is when you fuck up!! arghhhh!

Yes its totally frustrating. Every lawyer I contacted wouldn't touch the case. Most told me I didn't have a case even though I could pretty much prove that they let me go because of my E. it is a crock of shit but right now its money coming in and I can pay the bills.

PITA,
I'm glad that you will be soon be able to receiving unemployment benefits. As you say a paid job is much better but at less the benefits help pay the bills.

If you don't mind me asking but is the unemployment benefit payment much over there?

Glad you'll be getting some benefits. About time!

It all depends. I live in the state of Missouri but I worked in the sate of Kansas. Unemployment in Kansas will pay me a little less than what I was bringing home. If I had filed in Missouri I wouldn't even brought home half of what I was making. Every state is different.

So it looks like with most things it all depends on which state you live in as to how things affect you.

Over here I'm pretty sure the unemployment benefit is the same for all states.
The amount an unemployed person gets on the dole (unemployment benefits) depends on their situation. If the person is living with someone or own their house then they get basic benefits. If a person lives alone & is paying rent they can get rent assistance which is a little extra to help, the amount of rent assistance you get depends on the amount of rent you pay (the higher rent the more rent assistance).
I get a little extra then the basic dole because I am renting so I get rent assistance & because I am on medication for my epilepsy I get a little bit extra for my meds. The extra money I get for my meds isn't too much but it all helps in the end.
