I think I'm having a new type of seizure. I'm scared.

I've had epilepsy for about 7 years now. I have been diagnosed with complex partials that end in TC's. I think today I had a new type though and I don't know what it was and I'm so scared. Can someone please tell me what happened? I started to feel a little sick and slightly dizzy but not really dizzy, more foggy.... I was suddenly unable to understand words. I had just walked into a public toilet and had to press a button to lock the door behind me. I had a choice of 2 buttons - one said "to lock door", the other said "to open door" but I couldn't read the words or understand them. I knew one of them would lock the door but I just couldn't understand them. I stood there for maybe 5 minutes waiting for my head to slowly slowly clear and finally I could understand the words and press the right button. It took about 20-30 minutes for my head to fully clear and even then I only felt 90%.
I'm terrified. I was scared afterwards and nauseous which is how I feel when I come around after TC's. Does anyone identify with this feeling? Did I have a different type of seizure? I was standing the whole time so I didn't pass out. What happened?
Thank you.

It sounds like a SP to me, at least that is what mine have been like so many times. I'm not able to understand what is said to me or what I read and they usually last for a minute, maybe two. The post-ictal phase lasts usually for about 30 minutes for me.

Sometimes SP seizures are actually "auras" before a big time Tonic-Clonic, so you don't always pass out during this phase. Or it could have been a CP seizure.

I'm pretty sure I experienced what you experienced only without the nausea and my doctors seem to think it's Complex Partial seizures. I'vew been in a store and suddenly things get foggy and don't make sense and I can't understand people and things sound muffled. It has happened two or three times, thankfully not lately.

My seizures are not like that at all, sorry I'm no help.

I do know what it feels like to be scared when something new is happening.

I hope the best for you in finding answers so that the stress will easy up on you.

It sounds like you had a simple or complex partial, or something in between. It may be a "breakthrough seizure" -- a sign that your medication needs adjusting, or that you missed a dose, or that other factors have temporarily made your meds less effective.

sounds similar to a simple partial seizure. I get the sick feeling, dizzyness, and foggy feeling with mine. I also experience other symptoms with mine.

Nakamova, I saw my neurologist today and this is *exactly* what he said! I had no idea you could have in between ones! That's what he thinks too and has thrown some Keppra into the mix for good measure.

Thanks everyone for your insights. I was post ictal and still in that fearful/unsure state when I posted :) I appreciate your patience and help :)

i know this feeling i get it quite alot! Mine would feel like b4 i get a tc... not as bad tho.
never been told i have simple partial.... i dunno if its that or the tegretol side effects

I'm not sure what to call them but I have them occ. The last neuro I went to didn't think it was seizures but migraine related. I've never had a migraine during one of these episodes. The first time it happened I was terrified & thought maybe I was dying. I am a little more calm since I've experienced it several times.

I've definitely had short periods like this - seem to last no more than 5 minutes total

Me too. Mine usually last 2 mins. Luckily I don't get the nausea, I have an iron stomach. :p

Sounds like Simple Partial. I used to have them in the beginning, but then they disappeared and I started having complex partials that end in Tonic Clonic
