Why do people get so twisted, because I'm going out and living my life?Just because I might have a seizure big deal, I've done it plenty of times.
I refuse ambulances all the time, and I know when I need to go to the E/R.

I had a EEG on the 1st still haven't got the results from it, and the EEG was my idea.I've busted myself up more times I care to remember because of seizures.

Hi Belinda, nice to hear from you again.

Stacy used to get frustrated when I got concerned about something or other too.

People wouldn't "get twisted" if they didn't care about you. Keep that in mind and instead of getting frustrated, maybe there will be an opportunity for a respectful discussion. $.02

How are you hurting yourself? Bruises? I used to leave them up and down my wife's legs when she was a flight attendant. It was awful. Looked like she had been beaten... well... not inadvertently beaten. :P

Hi Belinda,

Welcome back. Like Bernard has said, folks don't get "twisted" if they weren't concerned. I've had my share of seizures in public, also, to the point of 911 being called. I've had some bad ones at home, too and my daughter even called 911 'cause she thought her momma was going to die. I've also ended up with broken glasses, a black eye, bruises and once burned my hand while cooking because of a CP and didn't get away from the stove in time. Also was burned in the shower when I had my first TC seizure 30+ years ago.

We need to keep educating the public about E because the majority of folks have never witnessed a seizure, a TC let alone a CP seizure.

The way I hurt myself is like my last bad one when someone called 911.My forehead was
bleeding and someone freaked so it was coming down my face.I think I probably had a convulsion that time.I hit the pavement usually back of my head. I don't just end up with bruises on me. I have complex partial, tonic clonic seizures to name a few.

That makes sense. My wife is the only one who notices anything, but knows not to call the ambulance.

I don't think about falling and hurting myself. Usually just flailing around. Not long ago, I kicked a bowl on my table and almost broke my leg.

There is a product for sale from Pioneering Technology Corp. that's called Safe-T-element for stoves that prevent the temperature on the burners from going above 600 & some degrees. Usually burners left on HI can go up to almost 1300 degrees. This keeps the temperature well below the flash point of most, if not all, as I understand things while still allowing for a sufficient temperature for cooking. I'm presently looking into getting some of those.

I've got some interesting stories about flash points and some nice reminders on my tummy. :roflmao:

Hey Belinda, that is the attitude i like, Go out and live your life. I know I try. I've only had a few grand mals, never had hurt myself really bad, not even in the horrible accident i had in the middle of the freeway at rush hour evening traffic. Luckily no one was hurt, including myself, all i really got was a big gouge in my tongue from biting it and a totalled car.

Have you been on Gabapentine? I'm really satisfied with this drug, other than the tiredness feeling i haven't experienced any of the side effects that i did with the other drugs i was on previously. Since it works on a 6 hr period, after i take my last dose at 7pm, by the time i wake up, i'm no longer covered by the med. So in the mornings i do not take my med for an hour after i get up, that way my seizures will happen in the mornings during that 1 hour when i'm not covered by the medication. I know , i've been told i should get a slow release tablet, but why, risk having one during the day, i'd rather schedule them for the mornings. Last year, only one of my 12 seizures happened outside that morning scheduled time period. To me that is a blessing.
