Hey, Ive taken lamictal in the past, and I have been taking it again for a few months now, I am on 400mg.

About 7 weeks ago I noticed a lump in my glad at the side of my neck, I asked my psychiatrist and she said if it gets hard like a marble or if it doesnt move anymore, to see a Dr.

Anyway, I did about 2 weeks ago because there was another lump and I was worried. I had blood tests done and they all came back perfect...perfect red blood cells and plateletss and white cells.. etc..I was freaked out about leukemia and cancer but they said no way its that...and I would be very sick in the hospital by now so Im trying to remind myself.

Anyway, now there is another one, and it is very sore when I touch it. You can slightly see that my left side of my neck is just a tiny bit swollen compared to my right side.

Im trying to figure out for the life of my what this could be ?

I did look on lamictal side effects and enlarged lymph nodes were one, but my neuro when I told her about the lumps weeks ago didnt even mention lamictal causing it.

any ideas ?

I'd ask the pharmacist.

I don't think I've ever had a neurologist who was straightforward with me about the side-effects of my AED's. I've also had neurologists that I'd tell about certain symptoms I was getting but wouldn't say anything unless I asked point blank- "could this be caused by my meds?"

Swollen lymph nodes/glands are definitely a sign of a known allergic reaction to Lamictal -- I wwould call both your neurologist and regular doctor to deal with this ASAP. While it's possible that the lymph glands are a symptom of something else, it's your doctors' jobs to figure this out!

And.........

keep on their arses until they DO something about it. If they're NOT willing to do something about it, find another doctor who is (change doctors) or go to the ER. Thats' ridiculous that they're not going to listen to you....

Not sure if there are multiple doctors in your practice, but another route to take is to call on the weekend and get another doctor on call. Sometimes they are willing to listen a while longer.

Lamictal

Ahhh, after surgery I was on Lamictal and I too had the same problem and my voice was going in and out. If I looked up, down or side to side my voice would go. The only way I could talk was to look straight ahead. My concerns were ignored and as a matter of fact ALL my concerns were ignored because they were NOT going to take me off meds too soon after surgery. Eventually they had to take me off early because I became practically anorexic or at least I looked like I did.
So you have to yell, scream and shout to get their attention! I didn't scream too much since I too was scared to come off so soon after surgery and since it was after surgery I was pretty much accused of being per se' a little NUTS from the surgery and I was imaging things. Today I realize I didn't imagine anything and it was the side effects of meds! This is just yet another example. I knew it wasn't just the noggin that was swollen.

oh man i take lamictal and coincidentally the other day the same thing happened. a really noticeable lump. but mine went away mysteriously.. i hope urs is nothing as well. goodluck w. that

I know this is an old post, but I saw it while googling swollen lymph nodes while taking lamictal.

I just found out today from my primary care dr that the swollen lymph nodes in my neck and under my arms is a allergic reaction from the lamictal. My neuro said I had to have a rash in order to be allergic to it. But after he suggested I see my primary care dr, and she said I should get off of this drug immediately, my neuro didnt agree, but said to get off.

Im finding lots of research on this. I wish I had a good neuro that would agree. I was taking Lamictal for 16 days. I noticed the lymph nodes around day 12. They just got worse as the days went on.
