Well had some and my promise to not drunk let alone get totally drunk failed and I did both and seems like nothing happened!

Party all the time now?!!?!!!!!!!????
Can't be a Coincidence since it happened twice and even having beer the next day and still nothing happened
Can I be immune to the "alcohol makes you have seizures"?

I'm a regular marihuana smoker and the tonic clonic and drop I've had in the last little bit were all while I was stoned. These happened beforehand epilepsy diagnosis so I was rushed to the ER. They were fully informed of my use and not one doctor nor two neuros I saw said that it contributed to the seizures, the anxiety I got from them however the docs said could have been from the weed.
I've been a weed smoker for 12 years so I already knew how my body reacts to it, but with anything new you try, you should think long about it and weigh the options. I have chrohns disease as well and have used the marijuanna for appetite reasons and keeping the food down. I have read many articles on its helpfulness and harmfulness of marijuanna in epilepsy patients.
There is a cannabanoid (I think that's what it is called) that works well as an anti convulsants, however there is also something in marijuanna that can induce seizures, so picking the right type of marijuanna is important. I think it also depends on the person and their e triggers. I can go to a concert and stand right in front of the strobe lights and be just fine while some with e would have an episode. Some with e can drink, others have seizures when they drink.

I am 110% pro marijuanna legalization and use if you want, but I would suggest doing research, talking to a neuro (doesn't have to be yours) and not take it lightly before you know how you will react, unless you are just fine with the possibility of your e worsening. Be informed

Not necessarily. Just because you got away with it twice, doesn't mean you will get away with drinking, smoking pot and not having seizure(s). Small amounts of alcohol on occasion seem to be ok for some folks with seizures as is the use of weed, but if you do it on a regular basis, it can lower your seizure threshold. Some even say marijuana use helps with seizures. It depends on the type of seizures. Personally, I wouldn't use the stuff now as I know it will lower my seizure threshold, even tho it is legal in my state now. But I was young once. Been there, done that. Here is more info:

Alcohol and marijuana: effects on epilepsy and use by patients with epilepsy.

Gordon E, Devinsky O.

We review the safety of alcohol or marijuana use by patients with epilepsy. Alcohol intake in small amounts (one to two drinks per day) usually does not increase seizure frequency or significantly affect serum levels of antiepileptic drugs (AEDs). Adult patients with epilepsy should therefore be allowed to consume alcohol in limited amounts. However, exceptions may include patients with a history of alcohol or substance abuse, or those with a history of alcohol-related seizures. The most serious risk of seizures in connection with alcohol use is withdrawal. Alcohol withdrawal lowers the seizure threshold, an effect that may be related to alcohol dose, rapidity of withdrawal, and chronicity of exposure. Individuals who chronically abuse alcohol are at significantly increased risk of developing seizures, which can occur during withdrawal or intoxication. Alcohol abuse predisposes to medical and metabolic disorders that can lower the seizure threshold or cause symptoms that mimic seizures. Therefore, in evaluating a seizure in a patient who is inebriated or has abused alcohol, one must carefully investigate to determine the cause. Animal and human research on the effects of marijuana on seizure activity are inconclusive. There are currently insufficient data to determine whether occasional or chronic marijuana use influences seizure frequency. Some evidence suggests that marijuana and its active cannabinoids have antiepileptic effects, but these may be specific to partial or tonic-clonic seizures. In some animal models, marijuana or its constituents can lower the seizure threshold. Preliminary, uncontrolled clinical studies suggest that cannabidiol may have antiepileptic effects in humans. Marijuana use can transiently impair short-term memory, and like alcohol use, may increase noncompliance with AEDs. Marijuana use or withdrawal could potentially trigger seizures in susceptible patients.

If you try weed you ought to get it from someone who knows what they are doing. In the sense that they know how to grow it. There are many different strands and different strengths of the plant. The powerful ones can make you groggy and unable to drive. Others can just take the edge off. I would only try it as a last minute resort and if I had a license to use it.

I just wonder if alcohol should be more horrified than weed? On one hand if people are drinking alcohol to numb the emotions as opposed to experimenting with weed to find the right strand that could help control the seizures. Hmm.

Whatever is the "usual" plan, custom for you, that becomes a regular basis. For some it could be weekends, others it could be daily. What's a regular basis for you?

He Girl, you have any links to back that up. I'm a long time pot smoker, and have never heard such an assertion.
