Great pics Wobblez.
I've heard of Craigs Hut :).

CQ I'll have to check the map, I don't know where Corryong is but we were in Merriig, near Mansfield? The mountains were Mt Stirling and Mountain No 3, near Mt Buller. The poor mountain didn't even get a real name!
I haven't heard of Merrig but I know where Mansfield is.
The town I live in is on the NSW/VIC border.

Congratz on accomplishing something so cool! The pictures are amazing and that looks like so much fun. Horse riding isn't easy for sure, I could only imagine going up a mountain.

Sorry CQ its actually spelt Merrijig but its only 15km out of Mansfield so you'll have a rough idea. We actually started our ride at Merimbah, which is further into the high country than Merrijig, where the farm is.

Are you anywhere near Echuca? I've been there and loved it!

MuayThaiFighter: How are you? I hear you've had a rough time? I haven't been online lately. It was amazing but admittedly the horses still did most of the work! If we weren't leaning right back in the saddle and balancing as the horses picked their way down the steep bits, we were standing right up in our stirrups and leaning up over the horse's heads to get off their backs and help them climb! We stopped every 5 minutes on the steep bits to help them get their breath back. I loved how well cared for the horses are. Actually we were well cared for too!

I think I'm about 2 hours from Echuca.
I'm not sure if you have ever heard of Albury/Wodonga which is where the NSW/VIC border line is. I live in that area.

Albury-Wodonga is the broad settlement incorporating the twin Australian cities of Albury and Wodonga, which are separated geographically by the Murray River and politically by a state border: Albury on the north of the river is part of New South Wales while Wodonga on the south bank is in Victoria.

Yep it's in the rural area. I guess we would be classed more of a country town compared to big cities like Melbourne/Sydney.
I'm going pretty well. How are you going? Are you back at Uni next year?

Sounds like a lovely place to be, I can't stand cities! Can you drive CQ? Do you need to go into the city now and then? I hope you have some support there, I know it can be tough living in a small town without a license.

Yes I'm back at uni in Feb to finish off my last 4 units. I'm applying for support worker/counselling jobs in the hope that I can start before I technically graduate, but its tough to compete with everyone else who has graduated. I'm applying for a part time position as a peer support worker at an organisation that provides ongoing support to people who have left the hospital psych wards. I'm surprised I don't need an Honours and Masters degree but I appear to fulfill the selection criteria! It's also the first job I've found in a while that doesn't say "must have license and reliable car"!!!

I'm a little anxious about how I'll manage both study and proper part time work. I usually do only a 10 hours a week but this sounds like it will be 3 days a week. See how we go....

Thanks CathyAnne! It's inspired me to really make things happen. I'm now making goals and working towards them, from having my first pedicure to working at Suws of the Carolinas. It's a wilderness retreat used for therapy! That would be awesome.

Are pedicures actually worthwhile? Lol

Your pictures are great. You look so happy & relaxed-and you are so right about getting the right horse. I used to ride one named Mustard and he put me at ease.

You pictures are great, making me wanting to saddle up. HAHA

Thanks for sharing your pictures with us.

I've lived in this area all my life so couldn't imagine living anywhere else. I can't stand the cities either lol, they are to busy & to crowded for my liking.

Where I live we still have most of what the big cities have but we aren't as busy or crowded as the big cities lol.
I don't drive & never had an interest in driving. Because I am past 12 months seizure free my neuro could sign me of to get my learners but I opted not to learn to drive. I live in a central area of town which is not far from the main street. I walk most places & there are also buses available during the day to the places I can't walk to. I also have great friends & my fantastic parents who are happy to drive me places if I get stuck.

I had my surgery at the Austin Hospital in Melbourne (we only have 2 neurologists here lol) so I still have to go to the epilepsy clinic at the Austin for checkups with the neurologist & neuropsych. The checkups are usually only every 6 - 12 months. My parents usually drive me to my checkups & we goto Melbourne & back home in the day, it is about 3 1/2 - 4 hours each way so it can be a long day :pfft:.

Good luck with the rest of the Uni course.
Aren't people usually screaming for support workers / councellors? I hope you are able to get a job in that area soon.
