I woke up this morning to my jaw hurting really bad. I slept ok last night. I remember waking up a few times during the night to use the bathroom and check on the kids. I noticed it really hurt when I returned home after taking the kids to school, and sat down to eat breakfast. I couldnt barely open my mouth to put food into it, it hurt so bad. :( Then as the day went on, I had to run to a few places, I tried to chew a piece of gum, and I had to spit it out because It hurt too bad to chew it.

Im just wondering if I should be concerned? I started taking the Generic Keppra XR two weeks ago, and havnt had any known seizures.

I guess I should take some ibuphropen for the pain and see if that helps.

Do you grind your teeth? This gives me pretty bad jaw pain. Sometimes I sleep in a weird position, too, that causes my jaw to go "out" so to speak, and then it will hurt like that all day.

I hope it's not your meds. =(

I dont think I do. Ive never woke up before with my jaw hurting so badly. When I went into the dentist around 4 months ago, they said all looked good. I had to write down I have epilepsy, and he asked what medications I was taking. He said normally he can tell if the seizures would affect my teeth, but he said mine looked good.

Today is day 14 of taking the generic keppra xr. In the past Ive gone for 10 days with no complications, and then on the 11th day, i started having seizures. So Im just praying Im not going down that road again!

What area of the jaw is hurting? I'm sorry it hurts so bad. Jaw pain sucks! =(

I noticed it hurts near the back area, towards the front. I was eating today and I could barely open my mouth to get the food in. When I clinch down, it hurts, but not as bad as if I try to open my mouth wide. that hurts the most.

You mean like up by the ear? That's the area that hurts me when I sleep wrong and get it all tweaked.

Its not by my ear. Its in my jaw, where my back teeth would be at. Thats the area that hurts the worst. Then it spreads to my front area, but doesnt hurt as bad. Like if you were to open your mouth, you can feel where your bottom part of your jaw is on the side of your cheek area... the lower area. Thats where it feels like its a Pulling pain if I open my mouth open too wide. it hurts from that area and goes into the front area.

Ouch! =( I've had muscle pain down there from tooth grinding, but I wouldn't describe it as a pulling pain so much as a cramping pain. I hope it goes away soon! Is the ibuprofen helping at all?

Do you still have your wisdom teeth?

I grind my teeth at night. Some days I can barely chew because the muscles aroundmy cheek are so fatigued. I also stopped chewing gum because of this.

On the bright side, I can impressively flex my jaw muscles. It swoons all the ladies.

Nope, I got my wisdom teeth out in 2008. Ive taken some ibuphropen and it did help alittle. The pain isnt as bad, but still there.

I bet flexing those jam muscles really impresses the ladies! :)

:roflmao: You're such a goober pfunk. That made me LOL!

I've had that a few times and it does hurt. I hope you feel better tomorrow Kristin.

If the pain isn't going away Kristin, give the dentist a call.

Hey, maybe it's your neighbors causing the pain! Ask your dentist if he can extract them. :)

Yeah I didnt think of that! LOL probably is those stupid neighbors of mine!
I will for sure look into it with the dentist if this doesnt go away.
I did talk with my mom and she said to be careful, that I did have seizures in my sleep where I got aggressive. My husband said he found me in bed with a good grip on the sheet, and I was angry when he tried to get it away from me. I dont even remember him leaving for work, which is odd to me. But for now, I will keep an eye on things.

First thing I thought of possibly grinding your teeth. But I would imagine if you've went so long without a seizure you'd feel all out of it if you had a nocturnal seizure. If that pain doesn't go away i'd see a dentist. You've been having a pretty uneventful couple of weeks for sure and I hope things start getting better.

Hopefully P-funk will release a workout video so everyone else can have awesome jaw muscles! haha =)

Im going to keep an eye on things and see if they get better. If not, I will for sure look into going to the dentist. In the meantime, Im going to start writing all this stuff down, just incase god forbid somethign seizure related happens.

It'll be like having Thomson's Teeth. The only teeth strong enough to eat other teeth. (Tell me I'm not the only one who gets that reference... LOL!)

I hope you are feeling better! Just be careful because jaw pain can be associated with heart attacks as well. If I were you and that hadn't happened before, I would call the doctor, not the dentist.

I woke up this morning feeling much better. I actually havnt had any more pain today. What kind of gets me concerned is that my mom told me last night on the phone that when I was younger, I would sometimes have seizures in my sleep, and I would get aggressive. She said by the way my husband put it to me, and her, that its a possibility I had a seizure and didnt realize it. With my jaw hurting like that, and feeling more tired than usual, then sleeping through out the day, seems like it could be seizure related.

Today Im feeling much better! :) Im going to keep an eye on it through out the day and just stay home and rest. My mom told my husband if he see's anything out of the ordinary to call her first, and then call the dr.

I hope that's the end of it! I'm glad you feel better today, but it would make me nervous too with the nocturnal seizure history.
