This was the first time (and the last time) I saw this show. One of the judges told a contestant it was rude that she had rolled her eyes at Jewel last week. The girl said she didn't know she did it and Jewel piped in "maybe you were having a seizure" and made strange rolling eyes. Then Jewel said something else about seizures and acted out a seizure. I am very offended by Jewel's statement and uneducated impression of seizures.

Last week in Dallas, there was news every night about a black councilman that took offense to the term "black hole", but I bet no one will stand up about cruel comments made about a life-threatening condition.

What's even worse on the NBC boards, a mother with a child with E posted Jewel needed to apolgize and all the other posters were telling her to get over it! They were more concerned if it was rude of the kid to roll her eyes. Geeezzz...we live in a screwed up world

Amen to that. I'll never watch or listen to Jewel, or let my kids for that matter ,again.

I'm starting to find that ignorance more & more prevailant on TV these days. Sadly more & more people see it as valid entertainment..... scary thought!!!

That's sad.....

and I actually kind of liked that show. I can't STAND ignorance, though....

Unfortunately, ignorance like that is contageous...as if there needed to be any more stigma attached to E. I never watched the show, but just happened to be channel surfing and stopped just long enough to see that. That was not only ignorant, but hateful as well.

Hmmmmm?.........

....sometimes comments like this make me wonder if people say them out of a need to make light of something they feel uncomfortable about. Ultimately, these uncomfortable things become used like this and do just make the person seem really stupid.

Public enlightenment needed....then a comfort level can be achieved.

This "Jewel" person sounds interesting. What is the name of the show? What network did it air on? Maybe I get the network here in the UK. Was it a music show?

How dare she have the guts to do that, or even be brave enough to do it on national American television  ! If there is any video that possibly shows this moment, then I'd like to see it in order to understand what exactly she was doing that showed that she had the guts. It's bad when non-celebrities do it, but when celebs do it, it's even worse! They're supposed to be positive role models, but when they do something like this, it just encourages the ignorance and stigma :( . Does anyone have a link to a video that shows this moment?
