Do any of you get joint pain with your epilepsy. I have been suffering joint pain for a long time now and I 'do the penguin' every morning when I get out of bed. My joint pain is also in my fingers and elbows and seems to be getting worse. I know that some medication can cause this but I have been getting it since before I was on medication. I was checked for arthritis quite some time ago but it was inconclusive and they tried me on some medication which landed me in hospital so I have been hesitant to take it further. I know I have arthritis in my hip and my ankle but it is my fingers that are getting annoying because I play guitar (badly) and I don't need my fingers to make it any worse (ha)

I get the joint pains as well, like you said some medications can cause this but I have been taking medication for life so far, the finger pain is the worst for me and my fingers are swollen.

My pain is worse in my fingers too and seems to be getting worse. I know it is not the medication but perhaps the medication is not helping it. I might mention it to the neurologist next time I see him. I didn't mention it before because I didn't think joint pain could be linked to epilepsy. I am really quite naive at the moment but joining this forum has certainly opened my eyes to all the different symptoms. Take care x

Yes mention it to your neurologist it will do no harm, it may even help. Joint pain can be related to epilepsy, you are not any more naive than I am.

Thanks Fedup for your comments. I really didn't realize that epilepsy was so complex until I was diagnosed myself. Now I look back on the last few years and I think I have had it longer than I thought. I have had a lot of unanswered issues over the last couple of years which I have recently found that other epileptics also suffer from. I am just a little cautious about self diagnosing every little problem as being caused by the epilepsy. Until I was diagnosed I was starting to feel like the world's worst hypochondriac and although I would prefer not to have it, I am really glad that I finally have a diagnosis.

That's the funny part when you are glad you are finally diagnosed. One should never self diagnose anything its a bad idea, but it does show you others may have thought you were a hypochondriac but it goes to show how well you know your own body.
