Hi everyone!

Two things to mention:

1) Tomorrow I go for my first consultation for neurofeedback! I found someone who has an office located close to my home. He is even petitioning my insurance to become a provider...please keep your fingers crossed that they will at least let him be out-of-network if nothing else. :agree:

His fees are based on a sliding scale. Because I am relatively low income, I qualify for a reduced out-of-pocket fee. :woot:

I am looking forward to tomorrow. Most of you guys know that I have daily seizures and a truck-load of daily medication; I can't wait to get started with the neurofeedback!

2) Next week (the 11th). I am going to an epileptologist at the Medical College of Georgia. PLEASE wish me luck! I REALLLLLLLY want off of some of this Keppra. :agree:

Maybe he'll look at my Keppra, Trileptal, Zonagran, and Klonopin and say, "Why in the world are you on this many seizure meds?" :e:

I'm not sure what to expect, but a new prospective is always exciting!

Please keep me in your thoughts for tomorrow and the 11th, and I'll update you as soon as I know anything.

Love you guys.
-Julie

I am so excited for you Julie.
For your sake I do hope you are able to reduce those meds.
Keep us posted

Good luck with your first session and fingers crossed that Neurofeedback makes a difference for you.

Oh Julie! I am soooo happy for you!! I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. :)

That is so coooool

Keep us updated on how things go. I'd love to hear about it.

Awesome news Julie. I'm wishing you the best. :mrt:

Thanks everyone! I am so excited.

My appointment is tomorrow at 2:30 pm. Hopefully, I'll have something to update by tomorrow early evening. (fingers crossed, prayers being said) :e:

Wishing us all a seizure-free tomorrow! -Julie

I pray everything goes even better than you are expecting. This is so exciting. I'm looking forward to hearing the update tomorrow. Good luck!

Awesome! I can't wait to
hear the news!

Hi everyone,

Got a terrible migraine, and just now having auras now, but wanted to post.

The feedback went great! It was just a consultation, but I got to see how biofeedback works using my pulse. Anyway, he showed me on the screen and it beeped because I did good. He's calling me soon to get the fee set.
I gotta go. I hate seizures. Took my imitrex. If I do good maybe I won't have anymore seizures.

... I got to see how biofeedback works using my pulse. ...

Biofeedback using heartrate (pulse) as the biomentric for the feedback loop is not the same thing as neurofeedback (which uses brain EEG monitoring as the biometric for the feedback loop).

Biofeedback (pulse) can help you learn how to maintain a calm state, but it isn't what we're talking about with regards to the studies and research on normalizing brain activity.

Yep, Mr. B. I realize that. :agree: I had several auras as I tried to post last night. I couldn't think to fully explain myself...so I mainly just let you all know that I went and was encouraged.

He showed me the EEG/graphs that we will be using if I decide to continue and do neurofeedback.

The consultation yesterday was free. I was shown that we can control functions in our CNS that most people do not consider possible.

The session was very interesting. I am supposed to hear back from him before the end of the week...my insurance is dragging their feet responding to his request.

All the best. -Julie

Good for you!! I'm still looking.I might be moving to New York by my brother so maybe I'll have a better chance. Teresa

Thank you Teresa! And good luck to you. Hope you and your son have a seizure-free day! :agree:

-Julie :)
