I am having this side effect, but hwen i posted about it before it seems that its might be a more rare one.

so if there is anyone out there that is taking the med and having this effect maybe you can tell me if there is anything you can do to make it a bit better.

at first i did not have it, then only slightly. now it is to the point where, by the end of the day, i can barley stand up from a full crouch. my knees ach like an old man with arthratus. iv noticed it in my hand squeeszing it also.

anything you do to make it feel better? I dont want to take a different med because this one doesent seem to be effecting my liver like dilantin was.

thanks

I'm not really sure if this might be similar to what you are dealing with. A few years ago, I think I was on keppra then too, I threw my back out. All I did was bend over and it just locked up on me. This seems to happen now every few months. All I have to do is move the wrong way and I'll end up crying because it hurts so bad. After about a week it is ok.

I do have pain in my back mostly all the time, some days worse than others, it seems to act up worse when the weather changes - summer to fall is usually when it will hurt the most. The dr told me that I have arthritis in my back. I'm 34 years old so I don't know if that's young or not to have it. Arthritis runs in my family (I don't know if that's something that's genetic though) and usually as the person gets older it gets very bad.

I don't know if it's from the meds or just from having back problems and the arthritis in general.

For the last few months, I've had problems with my right shoulder: I experience horrible, sharp, brings-tears-to-my-eyes pain when I reach back or across, but it's fine otherwise. I had attributed the pain to arthritis, but I have a bit of that in my hands and it feels completely different. I had never thought that it could be Keppra:ponder: You've given me something else to think about:)

ya, one of the side effects is a soreness in your joints. iv been on it for a while so it might hbe a late onset effect.

Hi, Birdseedd,

Welcome to CWE!

I'm on Lamictal, and it has given me severe joint and muscle pain. Also stabbing pains through my bones. I'm hoping this will get better over time.

Many of the AEDs have this effect.

Are you on any other medications? Especially statin drugs? Those can do it, too.

Pain is listed as a side effect of Keppra. Here's a link to Drugs.com: http://www.drugs.com/sfx/keppra-side-effects.html

Look at the tables at the bottom for the details.
