I am changing one of my medications to Keppra. I am now on Phenobarbitol, Tegretol XR, and Topamax. My doctor is taking me off of Topamax and putting me on Keppra. Of course my state 'insurance' plan doesn't cover Keppra so I have to find the cheapest place to get it. That one is expensive. Anyone have any advice?

I am also having a WADA exam next month in preparation for a possible brain surgery. I have a scar on my brain that is the catalyst for my epilepsy. They can theoretically take out the small part of my brain, the scar, and the epilepsy would be gone. Anyone had any experience with this? The WADA exam alone kind of scares me. Sticking something up femoral artery and turning off parts of brain is a little frightening.

I would probably not tempt fate with this surgery, but I would love to go to graduate school and have a life beyond my small sphere here. I was able to go to school and finish my undergrad. But I would like to unshackle myself from this destabilizing disorder and expand my life. I have dreamed of going to graduate school my entire life and becoming a professional. Living outside of the town I grew up in. I hope the surgery would be enabling.

If anyone has any thoughts or experience please feel free to chime in.

You might try investigating Canadian pharmacies or drug assistance programs.

We have a forum dedicated to brain surgery. Several members have posted about their experience there.

I posted my thought about it just yesterday: there may be better options to explore first
