The FDA did issue that warning back in 2010. There isn't a very high likelihood of it happening but it's best to be aware of what to look for. All the problems with aseptic meningitis have started between 1 & 42 days after starting Lamictal.

Patients who experience headache, fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, stiff neck, rash, abnormal sensitivity to light, drowsiness, or confusion while taking Lamictal should contact their healthcare professional right away.

Additional Information for Patients

Aseptic meningitis is a rare, but serious side effect of Lamictal.
Contact your healthcare professional right away if you experience headache, fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, stiff neck, rash, abnormal sensitivity to light, drowsiness, or confusion while taking Lamictal.
Read the Medication Guide given to you each time you are dispensed your Lamictal. It will explain the risks and benefits of Lamictal.
Report any side effects you experience to the FDA MedWatch program, using the information in the "Contact Us" box at the bottom of the page.

sorry man u don't take the drug so u really don't know much about it and this is recent and even if it's rare people have the right to be informed especially when your dr. doesn't tell you so don't say it's spam cause i get emails from them all the time.and im not going to get into who's write and wrong match were all here to help each other.

You are definitely right that people have a right to be informed. I never meant to imply otherwise (sorry if that's what came across).

I do apologise for calling it spam though (now deleted on the other thread). I did not mean that as a judgement on epilepsy.com.

The only documentation of recent research on lamotrigine that I've found was an analysis of already documented previous studies. Is that what you are referring to?

To investigate a potential association of aseptic meningitis with lamotrigine, researchers conducted a data-mining analysis of cases reported to the U.S. FDA's Adverse Event Reporting System (AERS) database. They searched for reports of aseptic meningitis associated with lamotrigine from December 1994 to November 2009.

Old or new it's definitely good information to be aware of.
