My doctor asked me if I wanted lamictal XR instead of the immediate release that I take twice a day. It seemed she just asked as a formality, she was reluctant to put me on it saying she doesn't trust the half life. She said only couple of her patients who are college students are on it. What do you guys think? Is it going to give the same effect as immediate release? I don't want to have a seizure all of a sudden just because changing the release formulation of a med.

I made the switch from 600mg regular to 600mg XR about three years ago.

I really didn't notice any big changes. There was almost a "placebo effect" for me though, because I hate having to take a plethora of pills, so taking less lowered my stress.
