Hi All!

Every month the drug store changes my manufacturer for my pills. I am struggling big time with seizure activity. Of course I don't know if it is related to the change in manufacturer because I don't know when it started. I'm really confused. For instance, last night when I said my prayers at bedtime (no preaching here) I could not remember the Lord's Prayer. I say it every night. I looked it up on my phone and then two seconds later I could not remember it. Today I kept going the wrong way home. So I want to share the manufacture with you and see if anyone else struggled with this one.

Aurobi

Thanks for your help

Sheri

Hi Sheri --

I'm sorry, I don't know the manufacturer for my Lamotrigine. But I haven't noticed any issues with my generic. You should let the neurologist know that you're having issues with your medication. The memory issues could be side effects or they could be seizures. If you're having breakthrough seizures, the neurologist may recommend increasing the dose a bit to give you more of a "safety margin".

Thank You! My dose was doubled last month. I am getting an EEG tomorrow and blood level checks. Ugh :(

hiya just read your post my husband is taking lamotrigine and he is having memory issues too so your not alone ,my hubby neurologist are changing his meds as lamotrigine can cause you to have memory issues hope all gets sorted soon :)

I just titrated up to the 200mg lamotrigine within the past couple days.
My neurologist, who I'm really beginning to take faith in, said the most important thing to pay attention to with lamotrigine is a RASH. If you start to get a rash then it is a serious condition and you should contact your doctor right away!

other than that here are other side effects I found on drugs.com

Call your doctor at once if you have any of these other serious side effects:

the first sign of any skin rash, no matter how mild;
fever, swollen glands, body aches, flu symptoms, headache, neck stiffness, increased sensitivity to light;
easy bruising or bleeding, severe tingling, numbness, pain, muscle weakness;
upper stomach pain, loss of appetite, dark urine, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes);
chest pain, irregular heart rhythm, feeling short of breath;
confusion, nausea and vomiting, swelling, rapid weight gain, urinating less than usual or not at all;
pale skin, feeling light-headed or short of breath, rapid heart rate, trouble concentrating; or
increased seizures or worsening of your bipolar disorder.
Less serious side effects of lamotrigine may include:

tremors, dizziness, tired feeling;
blurred vision, double vision;
loss of coordination;
dry mouth, mild nausea, stomach pain, upset stomach;
changes in your menstrual periods;
back pain;
sleep problems (insomnia); or
runny nose, sore throat.
This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects.

I have found most drugstores will order in the particular brand (generic or name brand) you want in order to keep on the same one. The only downside is you may have to wait a day or two to get it. If for whatever reason the store won't, have your doctor write a letter requesting that you stay with the same brand.
