I am now on a a new med lamotrogsine think thats how u spell it, wad recently called lactimal just wondering if sny of you can tell me if this will cause me to have hair loss?

I am on Lactimal now for a few years, and no I did not have any hair loss, but I did have a better appitate, I actualy find it quite good. Sorry not fully with it yet but how long are you on it, I am being put on vimpat to replace one of the other drugs (epineuton)

My neurologist said he was probably going to add it to my regimen pending my most recent EEG so I'm also interested in hearing experiences related to Lamictal. The biggest thing I've heard is watch out for rashes and that the side effects aren't as bad on Lamictal as some of the others.

Av only just been put on it today because i cant deal with the side affects from keppra. I heard something about a rash. The hair loss is scaring me the most. Im not exactly sure what its called lamotrigine or something like that. Yeah any experiences you discover please let me know and ill do same with you. I have to still take keppra aswell for 2 weeks until these get into my system.
 
I had some hairloss the first 8 months on lamictal. It stopped and my hair was growing normally for a year. Then my dr gave me topamax as well, and it began falling out again. :( I was only on the topa for maybe 3 months. I discontinued taking it in December, and my hairloss continues. Sorry I don't have better news for ya, crazy.
 
The keppra nearly did me in ,I had to come of them, I never got the rash but I did meet some one about a year ago when I went to my neuroligist appointment, they said that they got the rash at the start but it seemed to clear up after the first month, if anything my hair has grown thicker, I had no problem eating and put on a lot of weight. If I can help you with any quistions just ask me.
 
I tried Lamictal in April of 2011 and had an allergic reaction to it. I was on it for two weeks, and within days of starting it, started noticing signs. My neurologist wasnt buying it, and told me to go to my primary care dr. Turned out, i had no infections, and once she heard I was recently put on Lamictal, she said my symptoms I was having was from an allergic reaction. I had to contact my neurologist right away and be taken off of it. Within days of coming off, I was back to my normal self again. But this doesnt always happen to everyone. I hope this medication works well for you!
 
Thanks evwey1 keppra just wasnt agreeing witb me at all. Was making me very low anxious very angry frustrated hair loss. It controlled my seizured. Just dont want the hair loss. My neuroligist said hair loss os vwey uncommon with this new med ut is also used for bipolar which am a bit cincerned with. I have to rake my keppra as well as two if these lamograin or wateva there called. After 2 weeks i can stop keppra and jus take these other oned. I jus wanna be me again and gwt on with my life and not worry about stupid side affevts.
 
i am taking lamictal, have been since the beginning of February. before that the hospital had put me keppra. a few weeks later, my neurologist wanted me off keppra, so he weaned me off that and ramped up the lamictal. I've been on lamictal alone for a little over 2 months. I am on 600mg daily now. I was still having some partials and my levels weren't in range, then they would be, then out of range again. I had levels checked the other day..so we will see. the hope is to keep me at just one med. I think I'm doing a bit better with seizures. I think I'm going longer periods of time between them. so the good things are, less seizure activity. my migraines are so much better. i dont feel as "drugged" as i did on keppra. I'm more functional...sorta. :)
anyway, side effects have been eh...nothing I've really felt I needed to tell the doctor about or that I was supposed to. since it seems like they are pretty "normal". my sleep patterns have been messed up, i dont ever sleep a full night, some nights no sleep at all, others I wake off and on constantly. I have vision issues..blurry and focusing. I bruise really easy now. and ive gained 20 pounds. (ugh!!) and i'm sorry to say, I do have hair loss, a few small spots you can see where it looks like little chunks fell out (the hair there is growing back) but my hair is falling out and is so thin. it breaks off too. I have long hair and I mostly clip it up because it makes me crazy feeling it fall out and seeing it on my clothes and everywhere.
all that being said...as with E itself, everyone's experience with meds, side effects, the good and the bad is different.
 
Thanx. I just dobt want hair loss. Am only on 50mg of lamogrine or howeva ya spell it and 250mg of kepora.
 
keppra and lamotrigine

I have been told by my neuroligist to take 25mg of lamotrigine twice a day as well as 250mg of keppra. Will tbis make the side affects worse? i only have to take the keppra for two weeks with the lamotrugine then i can cone off keppra. I have only been on lamotrigine teo days and already my hair n wyebrows are goung crazy being vwey itchy. Help
 
I was on Lamictal for two weeks in April and May 2011, along with going down in the dose on my Keppra. I started out at 3000mgs of Keppra, and once I started the Lamictal, my dr said to go down 250mgs every week of Keppra til it was gone. I made it two weeks, and got down to 2500mgs of Keppra, and I believe 50mgs of Lamictal each day. I will have to look at my papers at what amount of Lamictal I was taking when I found out I was having an allergic reaction to it. But for me, I didnt notice any concerns with my hair when I was on the two medications.
 
Thsnx momof3boys. I am so scared about my loosing my hair. I was loosing it whilst on 250mg of.keppra. I hear so many different stories about that many things i dont know what to.believe.
 
Yeah it just all depends on the person and how their body reacts to each medication. For me, the Keppra has worked wonders for me. Being on Keppra for the last 13-14 years, it really has good controll with my seizures. I hope the change in medications will make things easier and better for you!
